If you buy everything used (for almost free), dont mind riding on rancho shocks and getting nerfed by the guys in class 11 it could be possible.

it would be basically impossible, at least to build anything remotely competitive. you will spend half that amount just building a cage and putting a seat and harness in. suspension systems have to be available to the public, so you can't save money by building your own. then you need tires, wheels, gears and a locker. and then you haven't even thought about shocks and bumpstops, where it's EASY to spend $2500 alone. then there are a million little things that will continue to add up.
it's a budget class, but that means you can be competitive for under $25,000, not $2500.

I am in the process of building a JS2 car. I'm looking at a tight budget build at approx $17500. It's a pipe dream to be able to compete for around $2500. I bet you couldn't compete in an 11 car for $2500. We paid more for shocks and air bumps than your whole budget!

.......and a fuel cell, parker pumper, suspension seats, seat belts, fire suit, helmet, radios, motor mounts, rear axle, fiberglass body stuff........the list is getting bigger.......$
Speed costs $, how fast do you want to go?

Oklahoma is your main problem. Just where the hell are you going to race at? The stuff that is going on outside ABQ? That's all fine and dandy but I'd sure as hell want to be halfway competitive if I was driving that far to race.
Thinking you're going to be able to race after building a vehicle for $2500 is laughable.
You need to throw all of that into shocks just to be able to survive the race.

I have been looking into a JeepSpeed type of vehicle not so much to race, but to be my next wheeling rig. I like the idea of a budget racer, but all budget racers are still expensive if you want to be competitive. I found that out road racing and rallying. You could easily however use the ideas of JS and have a very capable wheeling rig for under $2500 including the purchase of the vehicle. That is the direction that I am heading. Good luck in what you decided to do.

For $2500 you can build a fun short-course car, but it won't be fun to drive for more than 15 minutes at a stretch.
Heck, I did it for $1500.
Closer to $15k than $1500 now, but I had a lot of fun with my initial $1500 investment.. you just have to drive within the limits of the vehicle.
But as everyone's said.. you'll wind up with at $250 a corner for "low end" shocks... and enough tube to cage a unibody XJ so that it'll hold together for a while will be expensive, too.

well its something new and they kinda look cool, they go fast, and for what im doin their cheap!
so i think i mite pick one up for 500$ or so and put my lift on it and strip it down and drive the shit out of it!

If you are worried about spending more than $2500 on a Jeepspeed Jeep, than you shouldn't race. You will spend way more than that on logistics and race entry fees alone. ALOT more. Anyway, just to comply with Jeepspeed safety requirements a rules, you will spend more than that.
