What 4spd trans and transfercase came stock in the 68 f250's? How is the 44 front, good or complete garbage?

Thanks

44 front is not going to be very deserable. the tcase is probably divorced. Dunno if they had the single speed tcase where your only enguaging 4x4 or if it had a low range

The front axle is a closed knuckle, 8 lug but it's still a 44.

Transfercase is divorced . . . More than likely an NP205 but there's a small chance it's a Dana 24. Both are pretty much bullet proof but it's hard to find parts for the Dana 24.

I think back then it was a single speed (no low range)

The tranny is either a 435 (most likely) or a T18.

if the top of the tranny is aluminum it's the 435. lots of the pre-73 highboys ran the dana 24. most of the single speed t-cases were in the half tons and married for the high pinion front ends.
