What can anyone tell me about the Crane FireBall HI-6 system that is being offered with their free LX92 coil? . Has anyone installed one of these and had good luck with it? I know that Crane had some problems with their FireBall system when they first introduced it a few years back but don’t know how they are holding up today. This would be going on a 75’ CJ5 with 232 motor. I know that most people will tell me to start with a new motor swap but that is not possible at the moment. I just want to get the most out of this engine with reliability intact. I also plan to put in a GM HEI distributor while I’m at it. Thanks for any input.

Nobody has a say on it? I'm guessing that most people go with MSD for their ignition upgrades, which was my first impulse but I thought I would check around first.

Just going with straight GM HEI will do wonders for idle, mileage, power, what have you... I really don't think an after-market coil is necessary.

Sorry I don't have any Crane-specific information, but my 2 cents says save your money when it comes to those fancy, expensive ignition upgrades... That money could be better-spent elsewhere.

I have been running a Crane set up in my 91YJ 4.0 for over 2 years now. I have to commend them on their customer service as I did have an issue with a standard (non 4x4/outdoor) unit that was in my engine bay. It got a lil wet and they gave me full credit towards the encapsulated offroad unit. I have now since been all over on it with probably 40K plus miles and its works great. I would recommend their product as past dealings with MSD was far from satisfactory.

just my 2 cents
