Anyone see this yet?

The truck was built and owned by a friend of mine's brother. Is that a stretch? Yes, yes it is.

I saw that yesterday. It was a brand new car in its first race too I believe. That would suck to loose that car but im glad everyone got out okay.

Here it is earlier in the day:

Wow. Was it a fuel fire or something ?????

Glad no one was seriously hurt. From the sounds of it, the vehicle went up in flames in a matter of seconds. Had this happened in a more remote area where no one was around, bad news.

It was a brand new car built by Herman Motorsports. It was a beautiful car engineered to the extreme what a tragedy.
This is the picture we took on contingency row the team was very cool and answered all of our questions about the car.

I think he means that it was obviously not so "beautifully engineered" like you said in your previous post. Evidenced by the fact that it is upside down AND ON FIRE in that pic. They may have engineered performance in, but it doesn't look like they did to well on the safety side.

The story I got was; after the wreck, Travis pastrana wrote a $250,000.00 check to cover the losses. The Cars owner was still bummed out about it. The car was brand new, never been raced before. Sad waste of a awesome machine.

I talked to the guys moving that thing up in line at the contingency for about an hour. That machine was one fine piece of work. I don't know who it was that I was talking too, but they were really cool and showed me around the car like they built it.

Sad to see it go down like that.

i'll second that! they parked the car at the end of the contingency line so you could go up close and look. every single weld was perfect and every peice looked to be brand new. it's a bummer it had to happen this way, but i guess that's what happens when the driver has balls like Pastrana

when you endo a car, people tell you your on fire and you tell them to role you back over it will be ok and you dont hit the fire out system, yes its your fault and you should definatly pay.:flipoff2:

Here are some pics I took of that buggy in Bahia de Los Angeles. The whole crew was there at a hotel the day after the fire. I'm pretty sure that nothing was salvaged.

 All Im saying is that there is a HUGE ditch where he must have slammed the front wheels into and endo'd over. The reason the guys before him didnt was cuz they were flat out on it and probably had the tires floating across the ditch. After the wreck, they slowed people down in that area. Again, read the other thread

XJ618whatever the hell. Shut up, you annoy me on all the boards you are on:shaking:

That car was amazingly built. Like stated ealier it was parked at the end of tech and Just sitting there with two beautiful blonds standing next to it. Yes the welds, the interior and just the stance of the car looked sweet. Also the blonds. The gentalmen I was with is one of the master fabricators on the show Overhauling and he said the thing was a work of art. Its to bad to see something like that get burnt up at its first race.

On a positive note, the chassis is now heat treated.

But seriously, I hope they can reuse something!

I was co driving the first part of the 1000, and we passed that car twice stuck in the silt, we were in a production Stock Full H2, of course it passed us back when it got moving. When I passed it driving a chace vehicle I had to stop, it was a shocking thing to see in person. I am glad those guys got out ok. The car was COMPLETELY RUINED. The body pannels were melted in puddles on the ground, the shock resivors had burst open from the heat, it was a complete write off. From what I heard a fuel line broke as the car rolled pumping 60 psi of fuel out onto the exhaust, (very fast road), it was burning as it was rolling from what I heard, and we were just mabye 15 miles past the BFG pit, so it was full of fuel. I dont think it would have been easy to put the fire out. It was surreal to see a car you just saw passing you burnt to the ground.

Keep those fire extinguishers easy to get quickly, dont carry a small 5lb, carry a 10lb in a good quick release mount and buy a double layer suit!
