I have a set of Skyjacker 9" lift coils. Will they hold up the front of a diesel powered rig?? What is there weight rating?

Thanks

I have used coils from 1/2 tons on my FBB trucks w/winches, no issues. Not sure of weight on oil burner though. A Ford FE or 429/460 are both huge heavy engines. I would try em, only thing w/a heavier spring rate might be from a new F350 or F450 4x4 (w/powerstroke) or an older Ford box van or chassis body.:D

what is the spring for?
the 78/9 1/2 ton ones are 460# per inch - edit - that is the specs for superlift 9" , sorry
any spring will "hold" but the hieght will depend on the weight applied to it

Way to be as vague as possible as to what the coils are for, what they're going under and what kind of diesel engine. An 8-71 detroit? 4bt cummins?

It depends on the spring rate.....

Sorry guys, your right on.

I was considering them for a 95' f250 reg cab with a powerstroke.

They are for the 78/9 model trucks. They were stiff as hell when they were in my bronco. They appear to bolt right in the factory coil spring buckets on the 95'. This is for a 4x4 conversion with these and 4 link front. If these coils are doable.

Thanks for the help.

They will hold up to street driving no prob.

Any jumps or bumps and they are toast, spring collapse for sure.
Look at any diesel that has been wheeled whether leaf or coiled.

I don't plan on any major off road with it, but it will be susceptible to the ocational truck and sled pulls.

Hmmm, I'd really hate to do it up this way and find it not hold.

Why dont you just get a set of coils for a diesel application or have a set custom made with the rate you want? Fabtech makes a 6" kit for '99+ powerstrokes, call them up and see if you can get a pair of coils, or find a shop that can make what you want.

The only reason i even concidered this was i have a pair of 9" lift skyjacker coils i pulled from my old bronco, and after looking at the coil retainers on this 2wd f250, it appears they are a direct bolt in.
