I'm looking at new transfercase/transmission combos for my truck. I would like to go E4OD/NP205 but will the driveshaft hit the trans? The 4R70W would need to be from a V8 explorer so I could fit the Tcase definitely.


The reason I'm doing this is:

1. I want an auto
2. My BW1356 is clocked so much to to fit inside the frame that it drops down too low for my liking.

I also heard the 205 will need a separate crossmember because it will tear apart the aluminum trans housings.

I also just realized I need to run my speedo by a cable. Right now it's run off the tcase. The 205 doesn't have an option for this. Howabout the 1354?

From what I've heard the driveshaft form a 205 will not clear the trans. The 205 is not offset enough. But I might be wrong.

Yeah that's what I've been reading. It looks like I can use a 4R70W with the older style 1354 and still have a mechanical speedo output.

I also found a 700R4 from an S10 blazer that I could rig up. The t-case it comes with is an NP207[?]. I'm not sure how many spline output and I think it's an electric speedometer.

im confused, i thought 205's used a cable speedo setup also. probably lnot the divorced cases but all married ones should.

Well if that's true that would be awesome. I'd probably just pick one up and put it behind my ZF. It's like the only case that fits in the frame on a ranger.

I have a 4R70W/BW1356 setup under my truck. Any 4R70W up until 1998 will have a cable controlled speedo. That's how my '97 is. 1999 and later used an electrical sensor.

I'm thinking of one from an exploder with the 5.0 pattern. Will those Tcases still be cable?
