We rebuilt a buddy's 2100 this past weekend. Seemed straight forward.
My buddy goes home, puts it on the engine, and fires it up. He says that gas is shooting out the top, looks like it's from the two tubes in the front of the carb on either side of the fuel bowl.
What would cause this? I'm no carb genius, but this isn't rocket science either.

I'm no carb expert either, but here is a link to a write up on the MC2100 rebuild. Hope this might help some: http://www.northeastonlinewheelers.org/yabbse/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=882 (stolen from places..... :D )

didja reinstall the float and needle? i kinda sorta forgot that detail on mine and had the same problem....
might wanna check that ;)
I've done some boneheaded stuff before, but I am yet to forget the float and needle...
however, I was talking to my buddy and he thinks we may have mix and matched the new and old needles and the brass sleeve the needle sits in... I wonder if the designs are different enough that it's just letting the pump keep spitting gas into the bowl??

if the needle doesn't seat properly, then gas will just keep pouring in

I made the mistake once by not getting htat littel spring on teh float arm/needle pivot exactly as it should be installed.
it catches under the arm and applies a light load.
is the float level set correctly?
can you stop it by pressing teh needle down ( closing it by hand?) if so then just adjust teh float lower, if not then you have a faulty sealing needele seat combo.
