Next was the rocker, I started by cutting off the rocker
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5267-2/DSCN1984.JPG
then cut the cab corner
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5271-2/DSCN1985.JPG
Then installed some 2x3 steel.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5279-2/DSCN1987.JPG
Then I rebuilt the floor.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5283-2/DSCN1988.JPG
This is where I ended for the day, got the rear part of the floor done. Just need to cut all the rusty parts out of the front and put new metal in.

Well I finally got the tranny back together last weekend. Today I was able to spend some time on the rig again. I got the 205 back together, all 32 spline outputs, 31 spline input. Got the 203 back together and the last 4 holes drilled and tapped so that I can use the 208/241 adapter from the 400.
Then I was able to get the 205 and 203 joined via a Jeds Machining doubler adapter.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5628-2/DSCN2082.JPG
Then it all went on to the back of the th400.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5632-2/DSCN2083.JPG
And after A LOT of wrestling and using 2 jacks it got bolted onto the back of the 454.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5636-2/DSCN2084.JPG
It doesnt stick down too far using the old 241 xmember as a temp member. I plan on building one or two that mount to both adapters. But first I need to replace the motor mounts so that it all sits level.

Well needed a way to mount the radiator.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5645-2/DSCN2090.JPG
Seats are in. Just need to fully weld in the brackets and make some for the center console.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5690-2/DSCN2101.JPG
I now have 2 crossmembers. Hopefully they hold up and do thier job.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5693-2/DSCN2103.JPG
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5697-2/DSCN2104.JPG
mmm How about some shifters.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5701-2/DSCN2105.JPG
These are prob the cleanest thing that I have fabbed up yet. Im in love with them. I want to fondle them all night. The best part about them, they were free. No money was spent on my part to build them. It was all stuff I had laying around the garage.

Well its out of the garage. Not under its own power tho. Still wont start unassisted, tranny doesnt work. Worked when I had the rear on jackstands, but not now.

I have no idea what to do. Really tempted to just leave it and mess with it down the road. Maybe just go to BF for the day saturday.

Im so pissed right now. ARGH!

Turns out I messed up on the th400 rebuild.

The best part is it fits in the garage with the 38s on it. :)

Outside with all the 38s on.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5746-2/DSCN2153.JPG
Test fitting the bedside. Still need to trim some of the rear off and the bottom.

I took a total of 27" out of the bedside. 18 from in front of the rear wheel and 9 behind it. Its now 7 inches shorter then a shortbed bedside.

-22"
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5774-2/DSCN2161.JPG

Well I put the hood on and drove it out of the garage to see what it all looked like.

The rear sits a bit lower then the front. Ill have to address that later. The hood isnt perfect, well none of the body work is but its a trail truck, so one side has a 1/2 gap. I think it has more to do with the hinges and how old they are. Now to put it all back together.

Last full day to work on the rig till BF for me. All I got done was the floor. :uh oh: Altho I dont have much left. Anyways I started out with a shelf from a work van. Cut it up a bit and made it all bolt in. Its in 2 main pieces with one smaller one in the passanger side so that I can get to the shifters. Which is a good thing since I need to revisit the shifters. The 1/4 all thread needs a beefing up. Yesterday I spent the whole day wiring the truck and getting everything working. I have tail lights, head lights, fan, line lock is hooked up but not sure its working.

pside agian, the piece that ramps down to the floor is the smaller removable one.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5810-2/DSCN2170.JPG
Dash, still need to toss the radio back in.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5814-2/DSCN2171.JPG
I never thought my erector set would come in handy to mount gauges. Now if I could find the rest of the erector set. I prob used it on something else.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5818-2/DSCN2172.JPG

On a side note, My trailer doesnt like me. I hurt my shoulder trying to move it and hook it back up to my truck. Then I fell through one of the boards.

Well its offical, it was the tranny cooler line. Went out and pulled the old cooler and lines, then installed what I had of the new stuff. Still need to more fittings that I should have by next weekend. Ill also be installing a second fan on the front since Nate was having so many issues. Once I had the old stuff off I started looking at it. This is what I found.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/5945-2/DSCN2207.JPG

Flex isnt what I was hoping for. Tire is rubbing in the back, shock on the passanger side is bottomed out in the front.

Well got started on the manual swap today. Pulled the doubler and th400 out once again. Also pulled the gas tank, its stand, and the remaining part of the blazer bed. Going to be installing the fuel cell up closer to the cab. That way Ill have storage room for camping gear down the road.

Bye bye you POS. :2flipoff:
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6057-2/DSCN2245.JPG
No more gas tank. Basicly it was in the way of the rear winch, plus I had the fuel cell waiting to go in.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6081-2/DSCN2243.JPG
New tranny. I pray that this one works and I dont have to pull it all out again. It does shift into every gear.

Going to add some rubber between the mounts and the radiator. Plus paint the mounts. And before anyone asks, the tfan is off to one side cuz Ill be adding a pusher fan on the back side of the radiator to push air out the part missed by the tfan.
http://www.pnkages.com/gallery/d/6320-2/DSCN2343.JPG
Cell will come back a bit, need to remove the old bed mounts as they are keeping the cell from coming forward, errr back as is.

YAY! Progress. :banger:

Almost flat. The crossmembers will prob hang down a bit farther tho.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6356-2/DSCN2352.JPG
And a shot inside and why I cant go up much farther.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6344-2/DSCN2349.JPG
My take on the 205 isolator/torque mount. The bar that goes between the frame rails is also going to be the rear of the doubler mount.

Got the shifters modded and done. Since this tranny is a good 2-3" shorter then the th400 It moved the shifters into the dash. I had to heat them up and bend them back and to the driver a bit more. Then I cut 3" off of them and mounted some bling bling that I got at the swap meet this last week. I had been looking for shift knobs for the past year about, I didnt want to pay that much for them. I got all 3 of these for $23. :banger:
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6392-2/DSCN2365.JPG

Upper side.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6397-2/DSCN2366.JPG
Going down. You can see a weld on the bend on the outside tube, the inside one doesnt have that. They are only heavly tacked to the body to keep them up while I weld the rest of it.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6401-2/DSCN2367.JPG
Another shot
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6405-2/DSCN2368.JPG
Going under, I call this the passanger heater.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6413-2/DSCN2370.JPG
Up the back.
http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6409-2/DSCN2369.JPG
Shot of the cell. The crappy-ghetto return line will be gone once my fitting shows up.

wow dude!! that thing looks bad ass.

i never saw what springs you were useing, looks like 52" and 63"? you should have a lot more flex than what you showed. try the double shackel inthe rear. you will be able to adjust the flex stop for ride height in the rear as well.

Its like 3-4 inches shorter then the combo was when it had a th400 instead of the 465.

You are correct on the springs. The front flexes good. The rear was being limited by the rear dirveshaft not having enough up travel. Should be good now.

Off to hollister in the am. :D

Back from a weekend wheeling trip. My truck no breakie. Well atleast not till it got on the trailer. Then it was brought to my attention that the frame is cracked around the steering box. :uh oh: Whatever it didnt stop me all weekend so that is nice. One of the fans decided that it didnt want to work anymore and shorted itself out. It was the one that I cut into last year with my water pump, so not surprised about that at all. Even with one fan the truck ran at 180-190 the whole weekend. It would be on the warmer side driving to the trails. Running trap today I think I was averaging about 160 cuz we were stopping so much waiting for others to catch up. There are a few things I need to address, most of which is body trimming.

http://pnkages.com/gallery/d/6435-2/DSCN2375.JPG
Heres how much clearance I had with the tires and the water pipes. BTW the floor never got hot that I noticed.

Day one going through squeeze rock, I didnt mess up the cab at all. Day 2 is a different story. Its going to take some work to get doors on it.

One spot that needs some trimming. On the other side the slider ate the swamper and spit it back out. Its missing a lug or 2 now.
