We are doing a coil sprung solid axle up front and are probably taking the axle out of an older ford...so what do we do about the ABS? will the brakes work like normal brakes if i take the abs fuse out, or will that make it act up since it involves the computer with the brakes?

While i havent gotten this far into my swap yet, I know a few guys on the 'net here just pulled the relays/fuses related to abs and all was well on the western front. Im not so sure with the newer generation but if i remember correctly dark eternal basically did the pull the plug trick and never looked back. Might wanna get a hold of him.

Abs sucks anyway ;p

Electrical tape over the warning light in the gauge cluster?

ok, I honestly don't know for sure about a truck that new, but on my 88 unplugging the ABS control module (I just unhooked every plug that went into the ABS unit) cured my warning light. iirc DarkEternals truck is also an 01, he should have the info you need.

On my 99 nbs, i removed the fuse and removed the lights from the cluster, which requires soldering. I believe last i heard stephen had either already removed his abs equipt or was in his future?? either way it doesnt exist. With my fuse removed, it just turned the lights on, because i removed it before i went sfa, because i fucking hate abs, anything that prevents me from stopping is bullshit, just because alot of people cant do anything but smash a brake pedal, and dont know how to work them, means the rest of us have to suffer with abs? i think not pull the fuse, and the equipt. On my 98, I pulled the fuse and that set the light. I then unplugged all the harnesses from the abs controller and then the lights were out and the brakes worked fine. I eventually removed the controller and added in an adjustable proportioning valve for the rear discs.
