how do I tell a even fire flywheel from a odd fire? or are they balanced the same?
P.S. how can I tell the motors apart short off pulling the pan? is the firing order different ? so I could just read it on the intake?
Thanks

There not balanced the same. The odd fire motor is externaly balanced and the even fire is internally balanced. Finding a even fire flywheel is a real trick. Very few even fires had manual trannies. But you can use an odd fire flywheel on an even fire motor. You just need to have it rebalanced to even fire specs. It's better anyway because it's alot heavier. The easiest way I know of to tell the motors apart is to check inside the dist cap. The odd fire will have unevenly spaced contacts and the even fire will have evenly spaced ones. Physically the caps are the same, only the contacts on the inside are different.
