I am installing an aftermarket oil pressure gauge in my 40...... Should I install the tube into the block where the factory sending unit is or can I install it under the oil filter in the pluged off spot? Any idea of what I should have for pressure cold verses hot? Any help would be great........
Thanks,
Chris :usa:

Don't quote me on this, but you oil pressure should be around 35-45. It also shouldn't matter too much if it is hot or cold.
I would also mount it where the stock sender is located. That is where I usually mount all of the gauges that I have installed. Although, they have all been on SBC's. HTH Thomas

Oil pressures change depending on temps and oil viscosity. As long as you have oil pressure, you are good! I would hook the gauge up where the port for the sending unit is located!

The oil pressure on my 2F varies from 60-80 psi depending on temp and RPM. I removed the stock sender, installed a double threaded tube, then a T fitting, and installed the stock sender to one side of the T and the Autometer sender to the other side of the T. This way I still have my stock guage and the Autometer guage.

My psi runs from 50-65 depending on how long I run the motor (long hauls get it down to 50 or so)
DO the T fitting thing and make sure that you run Copper tubing to the gauge. The plastic crap that they give you with the mechanical kit is a big time oil leak waiting to happen.

Mine is connected in the plug under the oil filter and mine runs 50-65 psi. I agree with the copper tubing a must!!

Thanks guys...... Yeah, I gotta agree that the plastic tube is a disaster waiting to happen.....
It's all hooked up and life is good. Almost 70lbs at cold idle:flipoff2:

OOPS! Was I ever wrong on the oil pressure. Oh well, I was guessing off of my 350's oil pressure. I drove the cruiser with the 2F for a number of years, but I never had a working oil gauge. So, now I know what a cruiser's oil pressure should be. It is amazing how much you can learn by listening to others.:rasta:
