recently bought a remanufactured 700r4 from the local chevy dealer and put it in a 95 Z71. After running it just a couple of weeks with no problems it suddenly lost a lot of fluid and started slipping. The dealer said to bring it in for them to look at it for the warranty. What they found was that the transmission case broke around the 2 upper bolts on the back of the case where the adapter bolts to the transmission housing. The dealer will not honor the warranty claiming that the only reason for it to break in this area is a faulty installation (big surprise since I did not pay them to do it), has anyone else seen this type of failure on these transmissions and if so what is your take on the cause of the failure.

There is ussually a couple of things that caus ethat kind of crack. Either the old o-ring was left/stuck in/on adapter/transmission , silicone was installed on the new o-ring (sounds silly but it will cock the adpater ) , bolts were left loose or like previsouly stated to long drive shaft. Just my observations on what I have seen cause the ears to crack off.

The front doesn't like stated above but the rear is a slip yoke! I bet they left the bolts loose on the transfer case adapter! Your shit out luck on the warranty. I don't think any dealer would honor it unless they installed it.
