What I did was cut 8" off each side of the core support, trimmed the first 1" or so off then re welded it to the sides of the core support, that way I could use the factory bolt holes for the fender to bolt on. I then cut 2 or 3 "relief cuts" in the fender just forward of the hood hinges (can see the primer line in the 2nd pic), so I could reetain factory hood hinges. I still had to use a little heat but it worked ok. I built my own wheel wheels outta 1x1 square tubing and sheetmetal. Keep in mind the core support also moves back about 3" when ya do it. Leaving fan shrouds too long, and hoses too long also. All I did to fix that was just weld a chunk of 1/4" plate steel to the factory body mount with a hole punched in it, then bolted the core support to it. I just used a sawzall and the blue wrench to cut the hood (i was in a hurry). Hope any of that helps ya.

http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1538284117056933605dvbEXk On a friends 79 truck I narrowed it 12 inches since he still drives it on the street. I sectioned the core support on each side where it drops down for the hood. The hood is fiberglass so I just cut the sides off and re-glassed an edge on.The trim piece below the grille is just cut in the middle and welded back together. The tube grille is just cut off at the ends.
