: neep opinions on yj soa
creepycrawleryj 11-29-2006, 06:24 PM ok on my last jeep i had clayton hard arm coil conversion which was awesome but bo co $$$$$$
so now i am building another yj crawler and am going to do a soa and was just wondering what you guys think about the SOA rubicon express springs with front and rear revolver shackles and if you guys have any input on how i can get a soa to flex real good? like coils
WideJ 11-29-2006, 06:28 PM I hear those springs work well.
Don't run Revolvers (for the 500th time). You'll have more than enough flex.
creepycrawleryj 11-29-2006, 06:46 PM just wondering whats wrong with revolvers ??? just wondering
kab5437 11-29-2006, 08:07 PM i hear that they are notorious for loading up then opening suddenly causing wheel hop. Do a search, there are lots of threads about this.
rdnkjeeper 11-29-2006, 08:13 PM I run those springs with full width axles great setup!
jmac_crawler 11-29-2006, 08:14 PM Just run longer springs if you want better flex (not that the RE springs won't flex great anyway). XJ, Dakota, waggy, or F150 springs can all be used and can also increase wheelbase.
ahighfivetolife 11-30-2006, 09:39 AM The only bad thing I've ever heard about those springs is that get twisted up easily by axle wrap, but I don't see why that would happen with a traction bar and an i6.
geberhard 11-30-2006, 10:07 AM Just run the RE's SOA, no revolvers. If you want more wheelbase, waggy springs.
Good luck
na83cj7 11-30-2006, 12:06 PM I run YJ revolvers in the rear on my CJ with SOA & SRS. I haven't had the unloading problem that some have talked about, but I only have them in the rear. Next upgrade for me is waggy springs all around.
jeeper89 11-30-2006, 03:55 PM it will flex pretty good with RE springs.. i am running REspoa with 1.5 RE springs and i am pretty happy with the flex.
BigF250on44s 11-30-2006, 06:28 PM I'll be running the RE SOA 1.5" springs with M.O.R.E shackles front/rear. 36" SXs and it should flex plenty.
creepycrawleryj 11-30-2006, 06:55 PM um ok well thanks for the in put guys. um im just a lil worrysum cause i ditched the leafs on my last on and fell in love with my coils know im going baclk to leafs and i dont want to be disapointed .and if i am ill just do the clayton long arm coil conversion with coil overs but i dont want to spen 7,000 just on my suspension unless i have to
now dose any one have info or are running the shackle reversal kits and how do they work
rockr 11-30-2006, 07:01 PM train another NEWB on hardcore section:shaking: :mad3:
creepycrawleryj 11-30-2006, 07:27 PM no training needed here i just used to my coils now i have to build with leafs not my fav thing :flipoff2:
CjPetey 11-30-2006, 07:34 PM You don't need crazzy flex here in New England you just need to know how to wheel.
creepycrawleryj 11-30-2006, 07:51 PM i wheel with all the buggy guys on private prop to wheel in new englan slick rock all you need is a rev limiter and no fear :smokin: and i am mostly building this for out west moab and areas like black flag ,helldorado, britney spears, i was out there this summer and its all about wheelbase and flex im goign to spend alot of time out there, and you do need a decent amount of flex for placaes like paragon comp areas, voodoo, stone gardens in ct crazy 8 in vt but ne way im rambleing. but thanks for your guys help
oh and i picked up a set of rock wells oh ya!
stay in it you still have 2 wheels on the ground:evil:
yjw/350 11-30-2006, 08:08 PM u sound like one of those ctjeep idiots i hear about, they have no skill they just close their eyes and pin it
creepycrawleryj 11-30-2006, 08:18 PM you got it  lol and i cant take ct jeep down with me but its mostly clayton suspension people and i have no prob taking them down with me :D
if you dont hear the rev limiter hit atleast 30 time in one shot and dont roll atleast twice a day you aint wheeling baby DROP THE HAMMER baby!!!
oh and theres skill involved !!!
yjw/350 11-30-2006, 09:43 PM i dont really understand your 1st two lines in that post, but the only skill those guys have is giving clayton their money, esp. the guy who bought claytons ZJ buggy, what a moron
biggreentj 11-30-2006, 10:06 PM 7000 for a kit??
find a good shop, have them link it with some actual coilovers, thats what i would do, since it sounds like u want big flex.
ahighfivetolife 11-30-2006, 10:38 PM You don't need crazzy flex here in New England you just need to know how to wheel.
You're right. Why have sex with a girl? You can just use your hand! :flipoff2:
