Where can I get a 2 9/16" spindle nut socket for a reasonable price? If you have a part number and who makes it, that would help too.

Napa wants $31 and they guy can't even tell me what the part number is or who the mfg is.

Are you sure it's 2-9/16? If it's for the Toy pickup on your homepage, it's 2-1/8"... And you can get one from sears for about $25. But it'll be 3/4" drive whatever size it is, just FYI.

It is for my rear D60 HD. The nut measures about 2.55" across the flats.

I don't know if you have an Autozone in your area or not, but they rent big sockets. Their biggest is 36mm or so I think. :D

You should have it in your tool box. Hammer and chisel. You may have to buck up and buy the one form NAPA or AZ. If you have a normal socket big enough, the wall is usaly to big to fit in the hub.

Also pepp boys is the cheapest I found, just got the Ford 10.25 adn D80 one, $13. NAPA wanted ~$50

I figure the 2.5" might work since it is only a few 1000's off the 2.55 measurement...anyway...How bout this...they have them up to 4 1/8 and mention Dana Axles:

- 2-9/16" Truck Wheel Locknut Socket

http://www.handsontools.com/store/show_product/?product_id=2141

These sockets have a 3/4" square drive opening, permitting the use of an extension and torque wrench to tighten the locknut as required. Locknut removal and installation is simple, even when wide-rim wheels are involved, since a long extension may be attached to the socket to provide the necessary clearance. Sockets are made of high-strength steel; openings resist "rounding out."

Socket is 6-Point. Fits Special "rounded" hex nut as found on Dana axles of some Ford trucks.

Availability: In stock
Usually ships within 24 hours.
Ships via UPS.

MSRP: $20.25
Price: $13.92

Yeah, I used the hammer and chisel method to remove the nuts, but I just can't see installing and setting the proper preload with that method so I want a socket. I will have to check out Pepboys and see what they can come up with.
