Sorry if this has been asked before... I was at Hollister Hills the other week and noticed the new addition off to the left side of the road just before ytou get to the main enterance. You can also see some trails form the obsticle course area. I overheard someone talking that I was going to be for 4x4s. So whats the deal? when is it gonan be open? any difficult trails?

You do know they have been talking about expanding for almost 10 years now right?
Most expantions out there have been blocked because of noise. I hope they finally got the approval and started.

Yeah we went higher up on one of the trails and you can see a few trails back in there. I would also like to know when they open that side up.

I hope Im wrong but I believe that the expansion/additional field is for dirt bikes & quads.

Just called Hollister hills (831) 637-3874 and the guy said there will be an expanded area (edit: for trucks) on the other side of the street opening around late spring early summer. He had no details on the area, but said the trails will be tighter than the current area.

They have owned that property for 30 years now, give or take. In the mid 90's they did extensive planning, including trail layout. MTA and Esprit de Four were involved in that. At that time, there was to be a motorcycle area with 4x4 area around it as a "buffer" zone. I have no idea if they are still on that plan or not.
There are some real opportunities over there for some cool trails. We talked about large rock being dropped into a ravine near an existing road at one time. Management has turned over since, so where that is I don't know either.

Thats great!
I know they have revamped the Bike area a few times, but the 4x4 area had issues with a few of the wine markers in the area.
I know they filed suit againt HH for noise a few times.

Just the few phone conversations I've had with the folks at the park(Scheduling our Club runs), they are Really starting to get their shit together for the better down there. They are actually enforcing the rules and I think it will be to our benefit in the long run.

That's why they close five-fingers every summer. Stupid winery complaining about the dust.
I hope they are finally opening up the new area. It's gotten kinda boring doing the same ol' stuff over and over.
