what i got ---- atlas 2, 3.8 , bought new in '04 and never installed , for my 97 tj 3 speed auto.

now i'm building a 1 ton (60 /14B ) tj unlimited w/ 4 speed auto . did a little checking and found the 231 t-case is the same from '97 to '04 , sweet!

tonight i pull the 231 and shifter assy. , grab the atlas and slide it on the 4 speed trans....... and it ALMOST ,fit perfect... i got about an 1/8" gap between the atlas and the trans

so now should i
1. call advanced adp. for the 1" spacer kit
or
2. trim about a half inch off the nose of the atlas?

can get pics friday if needed:D

Personally i would order the spacer kit than grind on a $2k transfer case. A spacer is a lot cheaper than fixin a messed up atlas would be. Just my 2 cents.

I had to cut a 1/4" off of my tranny shaft (4L60E) and that same Atlas slid right on. However I also had an AA adapter because the tranny was from a car. The point being was that the length of the output shaft on the transmission was all the kept it from sliding on. And that's an cheap and easy fix.
