When I did my SFA conversion we pushed the front axle foward for firewall clearence so I moved the steering box foward and flatened it out. It wasn't hard just had to drill holes through the frame. Run some sleves through the frame and weld the sleaves in. Then for an added measure plate the frame and then maybe add a brace across. My pitman arm still goes to the back of the truck. I dont' know if that helped any.

cant you just 'clock' the pitman arm in a different position?

If you just "clocked" the steering arm 180 degrees, your steering would also be backwards......

hhey trailsintigger when u moved the axle forward did u Have to move the steering box forward, or can u move the axle forward say 2" while leaving the steering box in the same location and just makin up for the added distance with a longer high steer arm??

Showtime, I'll get some pics for you probably today. My axle is nearly in stock position, because of the coils and the cycle of them moves the axle forward when it flexes up. So my steering box is going to work just fine.

my axle was moved foward about 2" and the box is in the stock location (it's a PSC box now). I went coils so it didn't matter for me. I used a CJ pitman arm and it still faces back. no issues at all.

awesome for i can move the axle forward about 1.5" which is what i factored to be ideal and still keep the steering box in the same place...
