1.) I have a CCL. I have had it since March 99. I have several handguns and a rifle. I know how to use all of them.

2.) If you are holding a pistol like that, even if you do have a CCL, I believe that you know very little about how to handle a pistol. If you think that's a valid way to hold a pistol, then I would enjoy placing bets on who is more accurate at the range.

I have no idea why that pic would piss anyone off but you need to chill out and learn to have a little fun. As for wheeling pics I will try to put some up. we actually have wheeled quite a bit but just not lately because we are in a re-building year. I will try to put some pics of our trip to moab as well as other pics up if I can get my sister to bring over her scanner. She does have a sweet ride though doesn't she? 44s front and rear with CTMs and warn chromemoly all around. ARBs front and rear with 5.13s, strait six and soon to have a 700R4 and a 231 with 4 to 1 and 32 spline output and 2Lo. We are seriously thinking about entering her in that comp that will be here in april. I would compete with mine but it is too wide for competition. I am thinking about getting some of those 40 inch MTRs and running 8 inch wheels sucked in a little. That would allow me to be about 88 inches wide which I think would work well but I dont have the money right now. Besides I didnt really build mine for comps, I built it more for fun. We are planning a trip to Moab for a week and then to pheonix for a week and a half in May though. Hopefully Moab will be as nice as it was two years ago in May.

There not nickel plated, there stainless steel and second of all, the reason you dont see anything but tools in our shop is because we have two 10x20 storage units packed with so much stuff you can barely get in the door. Let me try and explain why I have a problem with the picture (and maybe why others do to):

The way I was taught gun safety was to follow these four rules:

1.) There is no such thing as an unloaded gun.

2.) Never point a gun at anything you are no prepared to destroy.

3.) Always be sure of what is behind your target.

4.) Don't put your finger in the trigger guard unless you are ready to fire the gun.

I was taught that there are no exceptions to these rules. I was also taught that guns are not toys, and that it is never okay to joke around with guns. No exceptions, ever.

People treating toys as guns is what gets people killed. Example: you've probably heard several stories about some teenager getting his dad's shotgun and pointing it at his friend's head, saying, "Bang!" and pulling the trigger, only to kill his friend because he "didn't know it was loaded." If people are educated as to the proper handling of guns, then that type of thing shouldn't happen.

When I took the CHL class, the instructor talked about an NRA program called Eddie Eagle. The goal of this program was to teach young children (3-8) that guns should never be touched and to find an adult and tell them about it if they find one. A study compared a group of kids who had gone through the program to a group that had not. The scenario was that the children go into a room with a shoebox in it. In the shoebox is a real gun (firing pin removed, barrel filled with foam, clip welded into it). Kids being kids, when the group goes in, they open the box. The kids who went through the program didn't touch the gun at all, and went to go find adults. The kids who hadn't, picked the gun up, pointed it at the other kids and pulled the trigger, saying, "Bang!" They did this because the only images of guns they had ever been exposed to painted them as toys. It's a matter of education.

I have a problem with your picture because you show guns being used in a joking manner. I don't think this is okay, ever. I really wish you would remove it. I am asking you, as a fellow CHL carrier, and a fellow firearm enthusiast, to remove it.

Second amendment rights are under constant attack. We are fighting a battle to hold back the tide. The only way you are going to convert people from the gun-control camp is to show them that, with responsible use, owning a gun does not mean you are going to shoot somebody over a parking space or your kid is not going to kill his friend accidentally.

Some people will see your picture and share your attitude, "it's all in fun." Some people will see your picture and share my attitude, "that is not okay." Some people will see your picture, and it will reinforce their belief that people who carry guns are a bunch of savages who don't care about human life. It is dangerous to us (you and I, the people who desire to own guns), when the third reaction is had by people with money and the politcal will to use that money to push gun control.

I know you think I am blowing this out of proportion, and that I can't take a joke. I am trying to use reason to get you to see why you should remove the picture.

Think of it this way. You see a thread on here every now and then talking about someone who is behaving badly on the trail, and how this behavior is going to get the trails closed. Your picture is similar. To many, it may not seem that bad. It is, however, more fuel for the anti-gun lobby.

Help all of us who own guns by taking away some of their fuel.

The problem with showing pics like these is not that you don't know how to handle a gun, it is what that pic aprears to be when it is taken out of contex by people outside of the "gun community" .

What it looks like is a 14 year old kid who got out dadies guns to play with while no one was watching - took a picture - and now wants to look cool by puting it on the net.

This is not the image you should be showing if you value your right to bear arms! Wether you like it or not - just like 4-by-n - we are not the ones who make the laws. It is some guy in a suit who has never owned a 4x4 or shot a gun. If you want to show picks of you pointing your gun at something do it at a range with proper saftey protection.

Was looking at the site (I think that is why you origionaly started this thread) and have a couple of questions/sugestions about the new project.

- 2 link suspension front and rear with 42"ers, rockwells, and a healthy V8? Is that going to work? Have you run the #'s or talked to someone who runs this setup to see if it is even going to hold together when you mash the gas? The only time I have seen that setup is with ultra light, small tired, low power rigs.

- diff center section & drive shaft - to - engine & radiator clearance. I can see moving the gas tank to clear in the rear. But the oil pan on my small block level with the frame, the top of your front diff is already inches from the bottom of your frame. Seems to me you got alot of travil and will get the shaft into your oil pan and the diff into the radiator.

- front stinger bar should be tied to the cage with another bar farther up. that bar is gusseted from folding side to side but will fold front to back unless braced up higher. (see avalanch rigs, they all have it)

1 I am changing the rear setup by building a new upper arm that goes to the frame. This isn't because it wouldnt hold up, it is for anti-squat reasons. All the links are made from 500 wall and use 1/14 inch shank hiems and all the bolts are either 3/4 inch grade 9 or 1 inch grade eight so I am not worried about that.

2 The engine is in the highest position possible as is the radiator and the front axle is moved 5 inches foward so the radiato is really the only concern as far as the diff goes and it has plenty of room, about 6 inches extra after it bottoms out on the bumpstops I added last night. As far as the driveshaft goes it wont be able to hit the oil pan due to the carrier bearing on the front drive shaft that I just ordered two days ago. It has a 1410 at the t-case to a 5 inch slipyoke for frame flex to a carrier bearing to another 1410 to a 12 inch slipyoke to a 42 degree CV at the pinion due to the caster angle.

The stinger isnt done yet but I got tired of looking at it primered so I figure I will just re-paint later. I just ordered a tube bender so I will be able to tie it in with the coilover mounts when I get it.
