Is there going to be any Supercrawl coverage this weekend? Pirate or anywhere else?

Doesnt look like it.

The Aussie guys were also saying its only 6 Courses. 3 each day. No Bonus lines and no Shoot Out. Not sure if this is normal for SC but seams a lot of effort for teams to go to for a very short run.

we were hoping to go since it so close, but sounds like it might not be worth the drive after all

Courses are way too easy.

Super Mod scores are something like this -

1st - (three way tie with perfect scores - no backups or cones)
Bruce Zellar -24
Marty Hart - 24
Shannon Campbel -24

2nd (two way tie)
Jason Scherer -23
Tracy Jordan -23

Sorry, that's the only scores I have now.

Peter (Aussie) rolled on his first obstacle, so he's not looking so good. :(

There were a few rolls, but overall the courses are too damn easy. One single backup kills you. Hopefully tomorrow's courses will be harder!

Also, we are not doing live coverage (obviously) but we have a photographer there taking pictures, so expect to see some pictures soon.

Edit:Sorry the site went slow while i was typing this reply.

Thanks Lance.

Thanks for the shot

Yes we did roll, but Buddy is just fine. We finshed the day with 36 piont all them from the roll. We broke the atlas shifter right before the roll and couldn't front dig over before rolling. By the way for all of are fans that didn't make it down. Here is the new addition to Team Shark Attack.

Dude, you may have won 1 fawking event, but UROC WEST would have eaten your rig alive this year. Don't think for a second that Lil'Rich courses are the ultimate in difficulty.

Dude, you may have won 1 fawking event, but UROC WEST would have eaten your rig alive this year. Don't think for a second that Lil'Rich courses are the ultimate in difficulty.
Good courses, and courses that eat rigs, are two different things...courses that are easy and/or courses that just eat your rig can be set by anyone. Good courses take skill to set.

Nobody wants just "ultimate difficulty"...they want courses that challenge every rig there to a degree that presents a balanced field...they want versatility in the lines that enables you to THINK as well as drive...they want courses that cost you points to complete but are do-able by most, but not with perfect scores...they want challenges that make them look good to the crowds, media, and their sponsors...they want a whole lot more than most course designers can offer.

Lil Rich may make a mistake here and there, but overall, he pretty much nails the above requirements...even making old lines look new but often taking unused territory and making it work to the maximum. In my opinion, NOBODY, since Phil Collard, can set a course like Lil Rich. And please realise that I'm not bashing Ranch. I've liked many of the courses he's set...but in the end, comparing Ranch to Rich in course design is like comparing me and Becca in the driver's seat...yep, I can drive...but if you noticed, I stopped driving...Bec wins hands down...
And, i do realise that Brett and others also set courses for UROC. Not bashing them either, but the same argument applies...though Brett did give us a good run for our money a few times.

Congrats Tracy! Did your bro spot? If so, congrats Jason Jordan! If not, congrats to Jerry or whoever stepped in.

Also, congrats to Brian and Joachem! Glad to finally see you get what you've been chasing for so long!

Yes, I saw how unstable it was and got the whole thing....

http://www.trail-gear.com/events/2006-supercrawl/cranedown.gif

Two recovery vehicles and dozer spent over an hour trying to right the crane. The just could not get the angle needed to tip it over with the boom extended. After many things were tried, the solutions was the good old high lift jack. A pair of jacks were used to lift the boom just enough to get a few blocks of wood under it. The forklift attachment could then be released and the boom retracted.

http://www.trail-gear.com/events/2006-supercrawl/tg2006-5830.jpg

With the boom all the way down, the recovery vehicles were able to right the huge crane back on to its feet.

http://www.trail-gear.com/events/2006-supercrawl/tg2006-5811.jpg

After about an hours of recoveryon the crane, "Little Rich" of We-Rock suggested that it could become part of the course and it was time to just drive over it!

I thought is was well organized and things seemed to move along smooth, except for the crane fiasco!
I spoke to a very well respected driver about the "promotion" of the event and we both agreed that it could be better. One of the things we spoke about was the "Truckin' Nationals" that used to be held there and the place was jam packed, (this was back in the day when there were not nearly as many people living in Phx) Monster Trucks and other "ok" events at Firebird draw a decent size crowd because people want to be "outside" doing something! I am not, in any way taking a jab at UROC or any of the staff, if there was more promoting, that place would be jam packed!

Two years ago I attended Supercrawl and I noticed that for me it was much easier to do my job of getting photos of video this time. The press pass process took just a few minutes. Last time, it took two hours to complete.

On course I was able to get the shots I wanted with little interference from the judges.

Below the courses was the pit and vendor area. Overall it was very compact and easy to get around. Large K rails kept the rigs away from the spectators.

Parking was nothing short of a dream. Media and Team parking was directly above the courses. In the morning I stepped out of the rv and in just a few steps I was on the courses....

http://www.trail-gear.com/bbs/rv.jpg

Things seem to run smooth until the crane rolled over. That put things in a bit of a bind, but it was rather interesting to watch it get recovered.
