So I am on the last trail of the day and I lay in the gas, make impact with a rock and the TJ dies. It never started again, and had to be pulled out of the woods. I have the stock TJ pump/sender assembly in a RCI fuel cell using TJKen's rings. The fuel rail at the motor was not getting fuel pressure, you could hear the pump running, but we pulled the line at the pump and tested it and no fuel was being pumped. The electrical connections were all good, so my question is has anyone else had this problem? I am thinking the pump went bad somehow and needs replacing.
Thanks for your help.
I had the same thing happen a year ago. Ended up the pump/pickup came apart in the tank.
The pickup/filter is attached to a portion of the pump that is spring loaded so that when it is installed in the factory tank it is compressed tight against the bottom. In the RCI cell it is suspended approximately an inch from the bottom at full extension. This part of the can slides on three "fingers" with nothing to really keep the bottom portion of the can from falling off. I used a single screw through each one of these fingers to permanently attach the two pieces of the pump together. Been working great since.
Here is a link to a thread I posted when it happened where it looks like I explain it better. (been a long day, tired tonight hahaha)

The dealer rapes you bad. I think some parts stores can get just the pumps but they still want allmost 200 mabey a little less. The whole dealer unit is close to 300 i belive last time i checked. I also have a spare pump i'll throw in from a 97 I had incase the 99 quit.

Did the same thing with the single screw in each leg, I have been rough on mine for about a year now and it still works great.

Little update from today, pulled the cell and pump and found that one of the stock pegs in the legs broke which caused everything to seperate because the spring unloaded. Also figured out why my gauge didn't work, damn sender unplugged itself :shaking:
Pump is dead regardless, but I did experiment with the screw in each leg tip and it worked well. I will get some pics up soon.

Here are the pics of the mods I made to mine. This was just a mock up as my pump is now fried. Got a new pump coming from ebay for $115.

This mod is definately a mod for anyone running this pump/cell combo. It will ruin a good day of wheeling if you don't make the mod.
