OK so I am really thinking about getting a Sport Bike for the summer. First off I have read a lot of theads on this subject and everybody says to go with a 600 for a first bike but I am 6'6" and 220lb and I just cant see me fitting on a 600 but I have sat on the new YZ-RF1 and well I fit like a glove :D Is this going to be to much of a bike for me for a first bike. I am pretty big into mountain biking and have ridden a Harley from Piere to Sturgis but not any other riding experience other than a scooter my buddy used to have. So let me know what you think.

I think you will kill yourself on an R1.
Go ask these guys www.sportbikes.net
They will give you good advice, as tall as you are, you will have problems with any sportbike more than likely.

I'm 6'4", 200lbs.
I rode an FZR600 for a couple years and then moved up to a '99 ZX7. What a huge difference. I think you would be a lot happier on a bike like a zx7 or a 97/98 gsxr750. For one those bikes handle AWESOME and they have the wider tanks that fit guys with long legs better. The r1's are BAD ASS don't get me wrong, but they feel too much like a bicycle to me. I felt real comfortable on the zx7. My 2 cents. And you can start out on any bike you want as long as you respect the bike until it feels like a part of you.

Go with the rf1, you can get used to it, just dont ride hard till you get use to it.
