So I am building up a High Pinion Dana 44 that I got out of a 1976 Ford F-150. It is the housing that has the 2 3/4" OD tubes on it, with the .500" wall thickness tubes. I just got done setting the gears up, and the new locker. And was about to install everything for the last time. I went to put the seals in that came with the set-up kit and they were wrong. The neck (that helps guides the axle shaft into the seal) on the seal that goes inside the axle tube was to big (the OD of it) and it would not even begin to start inside the tube. The seal that came out of it has no neck that goes inside the tube. It is just a flat seal. Its part number is 36352-2, but Napa says they cant do anything with that number.

My question is, does anyone know the part number for the correct seal that goes inside this housing? From what I can tell, the seal cant have a neck on it. If it does, it would have to be a smaller OD that then tube.

Thanks.

Well, I went back over to our shop. I just couldnt take not knowing what goes in there! I put my digital calipers in the "tube" and got a number. Then went to the other end of the tube (knuckle end) measured that end, and they were different.... So, I knew something was up! Stuck a pry bar in there. And sure enuff... Some dumb person who had this axle before me stuck two of the wrong seals in the housing on each side. The one that I just pulled out was so rusted, and nasty it looked like the end of the tube.... Anyways, seal #5131 works now :shaking: lol....
