I can't find any info on the web, freind has a 77 400 that we want to rebuild, he swares up and down its got 9.5:1 compression. I KNOW that after 73 chevy dropped all the car motors down below 9:1. I need an exact spec if anyone knows.

77's were 8.5:1. They never were 9.5:1 from the factory. I had a '71 that was 8.5:1.

77 is a smogger, all smogger in that time era had low compression for emissions....:skull:
