Ok, here is what happened.
Yesterday morning I get in the truck to start it, I put the key in the ignition and started to turn it (it felt almost half frozen or something, very tight), I turned the key to the on position and everything powered up like normal, when I turned the key to the start position it felt like something let go in the tumbler of the ignition and didn't send power to the starter, so I turned the key to the off position but now nothing will turn off, it stays powered up.
I thought maybe the keyed tumbler broke so I replaced it with a new one but still had the same result.
Can anyone think of something I can do to fix this?? I need my truck.
Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the ignition switch broke and is stuck in the on position. It has happened before. Where are you located, is it real cold? I don't know on a 91 but my 89 has had the slider switch on the bottom of the collumn stick in real cold weather.

Pull it down, there is a cute little pot metel piece in there you have broken. I cant tell you how many of these I have replaced. The dealer usally stocks the parts for that column.

I am in OKlahoma and the temps were around 10* yesterday morning so it was pretty cold.

BigWheelBob,
What is the name of the part I could have broken?? How do I fix it??

Well, I guess I must have broken that little piece in there.
Can someone tell me what it is called so I can ask for the correct parts at the part counter??

Thanks for any help.

you may not have to bue a new one. first take it apart and look to see if it broke. i have a 95 f1 and the same think happend but the (small pin) did not brake it just poped out. all i had to do was slid it back in (pain in the ass)
good luck
