Not looking for the pros or cons. Just what everyone is running or wants to run. And how they like it

Xmsn is a matter of choice. I have an auto now, TF727 and love it. I'd never go back to a manual. The auto gives you much better control going up and down. JMHO though.

i always had sm465's and loved them in all my rigs and tried an auto this time and to be honest i really like it, i use to always spill my beer with the 4spd lol ..

IMO one thing to keep in mind is the power plant, if low on ponies then u might want a manual but if you got the hp then an auto will be just fine..

I like my 5-speed. Clutches are fun.

Driven a few rigs with auto, hated every one. What a numb, disconnected, boring experience.

I don't think I will ever own an automatic offroad rig.

Aren't threads like this supremely helpful?

its personal preference. I dont like having to worry about rpms when im driving so i just stick with an auto

I'm thinkin about switchin to an auto now... The manual is fun when you start out, but once you step up to bigger, scarier things, you almost want an auto because of the control you have only having to use two pedals. I can't count how many times I've slipped the clutch just barely too much and lost a line because of it. I like my tranny, and I'll keep it till I have the money to step up to a better tcase with 4:1 because I get my gear reduction from my granny gear. It's all a matter of choice, but for regular trails and a little crawlin here and there, a manual is tons of fun. For serious, extreme stuff, auto seems to be the way to go.

manual is a lot more fun but if you are going to do some of the crazy shit people are doing now then an auto is almost a must. i just like to fawk around so a manual is good enough for me

I enjoy driving a manual in the rocks, as long as the rig has low gears. That said, my current build is with a th350/203/205 combo.

Hill climbing is a different story. When I am at the bottom looking up some of the 100+ yd hill climbs in the Norcal coastal ranges all I can think is "damn, wish I had an auto..."

I like the AUTO, its too much of a pain in the ass to have a manual and drink beer!

Every time i'm on a trail ride, at least one other person has a manual, and they stall at some point.
Every...
Single...
Time...

But the one pro is that when your starter stops working, you can always push/pull start it. That option would have been good on my last 'wheelin trip...

better than when I blew the fuck out of my g/f's tranny and had to get dragged though 10 miles of shitty trails.

I like a standard. So what if you stall, start it back up and git-r-dun

Auto.....much easier on the big rocks....no stalling/re-starting.
