Hello everyone,

I think I have my Jeep some what ready to go out and play on the Rubicon trail. My wife and I were married in South Lake Tohoe in June of 02' We're planning on heading back over there at the end of June to do the Rubicon trail and to just get away. So far it looks like it will be me and a buddy in his Toyota. We're trying to get more of our club member together to do this run, but it's been hard because of money or time. I've been reading a lot here about the trail so if anyone wants to help out someone that is new, that would be great.

We plan on spending three days on the trail camping and then go enjoy the night life in Tahoe. I will be trailering my Jeep so I need to find a place to un-load and leave my truck / trailer for the three nights / four days. Can anyone suggest where to go? I know..... I know..... I'll try doing the "search" as well.

Any info anyone might want to add would be great!

EDIT: I've been reading here for quite some time.... I can't believe this is my first post....

Are you planning on going all way through?
If so, you may want to leave your truck and trailer in Tahoma (the tahoe side of the trail) then drive the jeep down and a round to Loon Lake to run the trail.

I do plan on doing the whole trail (if I don't break). It would be nice to leave the truck / trailer on the Tahoe side. Where is this place at?

You can leave it at the hotel parking lot you will be staying at in Tahoe if you can get permission (good for security reasons).

Another option is to leave it at the staging area at the end of the trail. You can get to that by going to Hiway 89 in Tahoma, turning away from the lake, west, on Rubicon-McKinney road and following the signs to the staging area. It is essentially a wide spot in the road with a couple of portable toilets where the asphalt road turns to dirt. Plenty of room there to leave a trailer, especially in June (early in the season).

BTW, plan on lots of water and lots of mosquitos at that time of year.

You should leave your tow rig on the tahoe side, somewhere near the trail. Then drive you heep all the way down 50 to ice house road. Up the hill, to the spillway at Loon, go through the trail and walla, your tow rig will be right there waiting for your broken jeep ... :D ... hey it is RUBICON!!!
