exactly what i would do in your situation- get 87-91 waggy 44's and be done with it. they'll give you the strength you need for 35's and a couple extra incches of width.. later

This is right except the years. The one you need are something like '74 to '79 with Quadratrack. These will give you both pumpkins offset to the passenger side. 87 - 91 are centered rear & driver side front. Waggy 44's will be about 8" wider (4"/ side).

Greyghost,
You'll have to go outside-the-frame spring hangers in front with the fullwidth Waggie axles just to miss the pig with the R spring pack. CJeeper is almost right. The axles you want were used on the Waggie with V8/TH400 and Quadra trac from '73 to '79. The good news is nobody wants these D44 axles (because of the off set to the R rear pig) so they should be cheap.
regards, as always, jefe

There's a waggy with two offset 44's at Rocklin pick and pull right now. Good luck:)

Hello.

Iīm From Santiago, CHILE, and I own a 97 TJ.

I have the same question.

I want to upgrade axles (I have Disposable D30 & D35 with 33 inch tires), I want to upgrade to 35" or 36" tires, but i donīt know what axles to choose, also here in chile we donīt have a lot of junkyards.

Here wheelers use a lot the Chevy K5 (D44 & GM12). Are that axles OK, or too wide for the TJ?

Thanks.

Those axles are OK, but your tires would be outside the body & they do not have mounts for your coil springs.

Thanks.

I plan to cut all the D30 & D35 Mountings (track bar, track arms, coil spring mounts, etc) and weld it to the new axles.

My tires are actually outside the body, because i have centerline hellcat wheels (a lot of offset), but i will change to beadlocks with much less offset.

Here you can see a few pictures of my tj:
