so Im getting ready to make my tie-rod and drag link. Im using GM 3/4 TRE with 7/8-18 weld in inserts. All my steering is going to be hi-steer and above the springs. Will 1.25x.120 be strong enough seeings i dont plan on it contacting any rocks above the springs??? the next step up is 1.5x.25 which is over 2x as much.

i as well as most of my buddies always have made ours out of 1.25x.375 walled stuff and tapped it for a 3/4" hiem. however even in a high steer app one of my buddies actually broke the DOM in half. I would say 1.5x.375 would be good enough

If you don't want to weld in inserts you could use 1.25x.250 wall DOM.Just thread it for 7/8x18.Got same setup from here in custom lengths already threaded L&R hand:
