Ok guys, I know I'm a Fawking Newbie. I'm thinking about having a guy Mike Slade referred me to install a roll cage in my 109 station wagon. I just took the top off for the summer and will run a hoopset and canvas untill October or so. When he's done with Slade's truck(s), Timm C has agreed to put a Cummins 6 cylinder in it, and I plan to go offroad more and generally drive it more, so I want to look at a roll cage. Anyway, the cage guy is a professional fabricator, not a friend or shade tree guy. I have no clue what it will cost me. I want a full cage, frame mounted, with seatbelt mounts, so I can strap the kids in with or without running a hard top. Basically, three hoops and some tie pieces and bracing, I guess. I have some photos of a truck with this setup so he won't be starting totally from scratch. What the heck should I be expecting when I take the rig to this guy? Just looking for a ballpark... Of course, when it's done, I'll have it chromed, just like the diff cover! :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

So go ahead, make fun of me, tear me a new one....and tell me what you think it'll set me back.

I would expect about $800-1200 around here...Good quality, frame ties etc....

If it is going to be fabbed from scratch(or close to it), the more info(measurements, design drawings, ect) you can provide the less it may cost ya. I'd agree w/Rockrover... if its much less, make sure he aint buildin' it outa muffler tubing!

BTW- You guys see that show on TNN(truckin' or something) where the dude was rebuilding an EB and found that the roll cage was PVC pipe covered in foam and black electrical tape! Talk about backwoods country bumpkin dumbassery!
