I have a grill from an 85 CJ and need to know which wire does what that is coming out of the headlight? or is there a way to figure it out?

Just did this on my yj to cj grill swap. Voltmeter, 1 ground, 1 high, 1 low,

here's how to find out:

1) bust out meter.
2) set for resistance checking (that's the Omega symbol)
3) Measure between each of the wires and a metal part of the housing on the light. The one with zero resistance or very low, is your ground.

If you want the Lo-Tek approach bust out two wires.
1) connect one to ground and one to + on your battery.
2) Try hooking the ground up to different locations.
3) You cannot damage anything by running any combination on these three posts.
4) once you find the ground, just see which of the other posts gives you brighter light.
