What will happen if I bend 1.25" (.120 wall HBREW) in a JD2 1.5" X 5.5 CLR die?

I dont expect it to work very well, but I need a couple of bends that are only about 20 - 30 degrees and want to use 1.25 tubing. Im just wondering if anyones tried it before, and how it worked.

And yes I know I should buy the right die set, but I spent all of my money on the dies I already have and dont want to spend another $200. for two little bends.

Thank.:)

I did it by accident(late night and didnt measure the tube) I bent a 90 and all it did was flatten the tube/oblonged it but its still usable, I wouldnt use it for anything but a grab handle or something that isnt taking too much stress. If thats confusing just imagine taking a hammer and pounding a peice of tube then flipping it over and doing the same thing
Kinda looks like this

Sleeve the die and follower with a piece of 1.5x.120, it won't be perfect but will help keep the tube from flattening out (kinking). Probably be OK for a few non-critical bends.

Thanks for the tips, its just a bumper support piece nothing critical. Not too much of a bend required but I wanted it 1.25". I'll give it a try.

Would it not hurt the die? I would hate to scar up a 200-300$ die.

I hope not, Im going to make some sleaves out of 1.5 and see how it works.

Didnt hurt the die at all when I did it
