Sorry guys if this has been covered numerous times. I've been searching for most of the day and can't find a thread that seems to match the issues I am having. Any help you could give would be appreciated. I found a FAQ on Land Rover 4x4 but it didn't seem to address my issue there.

I will admit now, while I can get just about any older engine started, I have little experiance with newer equipment and none with Land Rovers. So please use your little words!

My little brother has a "96" Land Rover, Range Rover 4.0. It's been sitting for about 4 months. It ran fine when last parked. Last night we went to get her started up and had little success. The Engine turns but does not even hint at trying to start. We charged the battery and made sure she had fuel. The EFI has a little pressure release valve (looks like tire valve stem) and I does not seem to be getting pressure. I checked the fuel pump fuse and it's fine. I really don't know where to go from there.

Is it possible that because the because battery was dead and removed to charge, that the anti-theft system is some how disabling the ignition/fuel pump? My brother has had the battery out before and advised that once he had reset the alarm with the key fob, all worked well. We tried that and still no worky. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

First step is don't take it to the dealership.

OK, if you pull up the carpet in the rear loadspace, you will find a trap door that will allow access to the fuel pump wiring. You're looking for a purple/white stripe wire (or is it white with purple stripe?), look for power between there and ground when you first turn the key on-the power will turn off after a coupla seconds so look fast.

Check it out and come back and we'll either help you or abuse you.

Just got back to my house, the Rover is still at my brothers. We had spark at the wires and I could hear the fuel pump pressure up when I turned on the key. After I re-checked the fuses that is. I checked again and found that I had pulled the wrong one. The fuel pump fuse was infact comprimised. We changed the fuse and I had my lil bro turn on the key to see if I could hear the pump pressureize the system (which I wasn't hearing before). Once the fuse was replaced I could hear it, but it still wouldn't start and there still was no pressure on the EFI valve.

DO not post up again until you check for power at the pump. Pump failure is much more common than either relay or fuse failure.

(pendy voice on) I have no patience for those who do not follow directions(pendy voice off)

No disrespect intended, I was away from the truck when I saw your post. I was just telling you what we had done before I left. Next time I get over there, I will check for power at the pump. Your time is appreciated. I will post back up after I get that checked.

Just don't take it to the stealership. They lost the only service advisor that cared about their clients in May.

The most likely problem with your truck is failure of the fuel pump. The OEM replacement can be pricy, but multiple alternatives are available.

"No disrespect intended," Good, I'd hate to have to tell you to take it to the stealership, or Doug's (only because it would be next year before you got it back :flipoff2:)!

if you can hear the pump running then I bet it has power now go check to make sure you have fuel in it (look down the street for shopbouy)

no fuel=no pressure

hole in the hose in the tank = no pressure

if you see shopbouy tell him i'm waiting for him to clean up
