I just bought the axles, tranny, and xfer case out of a 79 scout(according to the brake lines), I actually think it is a 80. sorry no body left to verify that. what i do know is that it has a t-19, d-300?, d44's with 4.09's. it had that funky 4 banger in it. so my question is, what would the shift pattern be if it was a d300? Is it the same as Jeep(4low all the way up)?

thanks

Jeff

It's all worthless. Leave it in your driveway. Someone will be by to get rid of it for you shortly. What is your address again?

ummm, not to argue or anything, you guys are the experts, and I am just a newbie, but my d-20 has 4-low all the way down. My friends d-300 has 4-low all the way up. btw the speedo cable is on the drivers side, which indicates a d-20, but the shift linkage threw me for a loop. Thanks for the quick replies.

Hmm.. every Dana 20 I've broken has 4-low all the way towards the dash - on some of 'em I've bashed up my knuckles on the dash and/or hood release knob..

Are scout d-20's different? I had a J-2000 once with a U style shift once, but every other one has had 4-low all the way down. I have even had to cut some of the tub on one too get it too go into 4-low.

bash your knuckles?...holy shit i once pierced my finger with the knob vacant hood release frigging weapon.

those damn things shoulda been just 2 inches either way.

but without the knob on there just for chuckles i'll take my truck in for an oil change and sit and laugh as the jeep driving jiffy lube kid walkes around the truck for 20 mins looking for the hood latch

jeeps dana 20 uses shift linkage that is diffrent than scouts. 4low is at the back in a jeep, at the front in a scout. The 300's all shift the same. 300's have an aluminum tail housing and a flat inspection cover.

The nice thing about the d20 is when it keeps poppin out of low, you can just have your passanger keep their foot pushed up against the lever to keep it in.... Because low is ALL THE WAY FORWARD.:flipoff2:
