: Exhaust on Wrangler with Small block 350

I currently have headers on this beast, and I am tired of the noise. Is it possible to run stock Chevy exhaust manifolds on my Wrangler?

Thanks

I hope so. I plan to use Vortec manifolds on mine.

I read up on this before I did my swap:

Vortec manifolds (well, at least the newer Chevy truck ones anyway) supposedly empty right into the frame on a Wrangler so they won't fit. A couple of writeups I read used Corvette Ram's horn manifolds (from '70s 'Vettes, I think...) and they said that those fit perfect. I guess you can pick 'em up on E-bay for a little bit o' nothing.

Camaro, Firebird, and Corvette LT-1 manifolds will work well. I have some Corvette LT-1 ones for mine but my dad has some Firebird LT-1 ones that look like they will work well too. The Chevy truck ones dump too far back on the passenger side, and hit the firewall.

Interesting..............I'm gonna be dropping a 350 into my YJ within the next month and I was gonna use the stock truck manifolds......but they won't work hey??.....Something else I gotta buy.....Thanks for the saves me alot of messing around......

Do it right the first time.... go with rams horn manifolds.

They will allow you to have your exhaust tucked way up out of harms way.

Just like these...

Are these applicable to either side, or do I need to get right side and left sides seperately?

Does anyone know if these will fit the Vortec heads?

Yes. This guy put a vortec in his cruiser and used ram's horns off a '76 'Vette...

Hmn,
Now that article makes me wonder about using the Vortec manifolds.
He says the would have worked, if he were using an Auto.
I know they will clear the Th350 I am running now.
Might even go with a 4L60E....
What's the difference between a 'Cruiser frame and a YJ frame, where the motor mounts in?

One said that they hit the frames rails, another said they'd hit the firewall. Which is it? Anyone tried it?

I may have to. I can get the ramshorn manifolds easily enough.

You know, maybe that writeup was where I saw the part about hitting the frame and just assumed in my fuzzy memory that it was a YJ... :emb4:

In any case, I went with Sanderson headers instead. :flipoff2:

I just put the 350 in my YJ (as in....yesterday), and I had to use ram's horn manifolds.

Left and right are the same, if they are true center dump, some have the pipe flange swept back.

The stock manifolds off my 350 (they are from an 89 G20 van) dumped right into my motor mounts and clutch slave.

What motor mounts are you using? I am using an automatic. I don't think the clutch slave would be a problem. Not trying to beat a dead horse, just trying to get the skinny.

I'm using the MORE mounts......having now reread my post, I don't know why I wrote they went into the motor mounts (it was late, and I was/am still exhausted, sorry).

My driver's manifold would have dumped into the clutch slave, and the passenger one would have put the Y pipe right in the path of my driveshaft (I'm running a D300)

Well now we have a problem. I have a D-300 as well.
Advance Adapters says they will clear my motor mounts. I might get around by running duals with a crossover.
I am going to try it. I already own the set I have.
