I am looking for some pins to hold up the table on my home made press. They need to be alittle over a foot long and IIRC 3/4" diameter (or larger if need be I can drill out the holes).
I have been using just some regular lengths of mild steel rod but they keep bending. Either looking for something else to use, or could I heat up and oil quench the rod I have been using and use it.

Grainger.com or mcmaster.com and drill rod or O-1 steel, buy to length and diameter to suit. Enco.com has it also. Fastenal will have Grade 8 bolts.
On my 20 ton press, I use the holes below the table and holes in the middle of table, two holes per side. No bending, even while bending 3/8" plate 4 1/2" wide.
Good luck.
