We're looking to pick one up to do some painting around the farm. Basically, we just built a new steel barn and have 4 others that need the siding and roof painted, along with 4 grain storage bins.
Will be a lot of paint to spray and figure it's cheaper to just buy an outfit and do it ourselves and have the tools left when we're finished.
So, anyone know anything about them? I've done some research, but seems that lots of model #'s have changed and I can't cross reference them (items on ebay are older, can't find alot of info on some of them due to age).
From what I've found, the bigger the max nozzle size, and the longer the max hose length, the bigger the pump/greater "duty" rating and higher HP motor. Anything I should watch out for? Been looking for something in the $300-$400 range.
Any suggestions?
As always, thanks for the info.

I am a painting contractor in So Cal and know a bit about them. My personal favorite is the Speeflo 8900 it is gas hydraulic and is a real work horse. probly more pump and $ than you want to spend. If I were going to buy a good all around pump for the farm I would look at the Graco ultra 600 or ultra 695 or even the Spray Tech 2205. Stay away from 2 things don't get a Diaphram type pump they are not very rugged and need constant attention. Plus if you don't clean them right one time they don't work and require a rebuild. second avoid the plate style check valve like in the small Titans one peice of sand in the wrong place leaves the pump useless. Look for piston lowwer unit ( the paint pump) and Ball style check valves. Ball style valves are rugged and will hammer that same piece of sand into submition in a few strokes and keep pumping. One more note Spraytech is made by Wagneer, they specialise all their fittings and such, if you break one and need a new fitting you have to buy it from the dealer. Graco and Speeflo use Npt fitting you can get them from the hardware store in a pinch. We own 32 pumps 1 is a Spray tech 2205 and has served fairly well, 6 are Gracos af various sizes and do fine the rest are Speeflos and we don't worry about breakdowns. there was a time when we NEVER had a wagneer pump on a job alone, any Wagneer had a back up due to the break down time.

I painted the interior of my old shop (25x32) white with a borrowed Campbell Hausfeld. I think Harbor Freight sells 'em for around $300. I planned to buy one until I found I could just panel my new shop w steel that was already painted white (what a concept).
It just sucked out of a gallon can, and IMO it was fawking sweet. We thinned the paint a bit to make it go further. Keep in mind I've never used any other airless sprayer, so what the hell do I know?? We just ran a little water thru it each night when we were done to clear it out and it never gave us any issues. I really enjoyed it, it seemed to work well and made the job go WAY faster of course. It worked well, we never had to wait on it or anything, and it painted walls - what more can I say? LOL
IIRC the paint did start to bubble a little after about two years, but our prep job consisted of hosing down 20yr old galvanized steel, and that's it. Plus we had some runs 'cause we were sloppy and inexperienced.
Here's a decent shot of the finished product after a good bit of use (and subsequent yellowing from fumes and smoke). I apologize for all the other stuff in the pic which could prompt lots of questions LOL
