My Pass knuckle D30 (1) hole is stripped. Is it possible to fix or should I just replace it. I read something about drilling a hole and using a nut and bolt ?? Any ideas or pictures?

Not sure what bolt hole your talking about but most likely you should be able to repair it. Take the bolt with you to an auto parts store and tell them you need a heli-coil to repair that size hole. The kits usually come with instructions and have more than one in the kit, good to keep with you on the trail.

Far as I know, the only threaded hole on a 30 knuckle would be the steering stop...Stripped or not, throw a bolt in it, adjust it, and throw a quick tack on it...done.

Are you talking about one of the caliper bolts?

I heli-coiled one on my Dana30 right before I ditched it.

could also be one of the unit-bearing bolts if it's a newer Dana 30.

edit: wait, if I remember right now, those bolts actually go through holes in the knuckle and only thread into the bearing.

You hit it on the nail..What size was the heli-coil that you used if you remember? My D30 is off an 04'.

I want to say it was something like M8x1.25, but I'm not really sure, I got it from AutoZone, I just took in one of my caliper bolts to match it up to the correct kit. The kit cost me about $25, then I had to go to the hardware store because the heli-coil kit needed some odd-ball drill bit size the parts store didn't have.

It worked great, thhough, even if it did cost me like $30.
