Hey everybody,
What do you all think about - 2 back spacing rims with my 79 fine spline yota axles? Just got some used 38.5 swamper sx's and want to get as wide as I can. Besides wheel bearing stress any other problems with the -2? Woody what are you running?
Lots to update, body's off from the floor boards back,sm420 rebuilding this week, tcase rebuilt, rubicon express springs front and rear, rear axle back 3.5 with hangers on the bumper. Pictures to come.Tom

How does woody's site have to do with backspacing on 38's? Show me were its talks about it ,then I won't ask the forum. I don't have time to say hi in the intro greetings to newbies. Besides I said hello before and visit his site often. How about some info.

He said SEARCH. If you had taken the time to read all of Jeff's post you would see that he also says search. Try backspace in your search. This topic was brought up not all that long ago.

BTW, I plan on running 2" bs wheels. Probably run TSL 35x15.5s on 15x10s.

Are you going to run beadlocks? I have been told the -2 bs debead real easy. What ones are you looking at? Does any one run non beadlock -2bs and not debead easy?

What would backspacing have to do with de-beading? I am lost?

Get them.

They will not put too much stress on the bearings. That may be a problem with a Jeep, but the bearings on a Cruiser can handle the extra leverage.

On the Rubicon Express springs, what are you running? Are they the Spring Over springs they sell?

YJ?

Nolen,
What I was told about the rims was when they weld the 2 bs wheels they reverse the lips on the inside of the rim to gain the dish. So the inside lip is narrower and the outside is wider on 3 and 4 bs. When they make the 2 they flip it. The owner of 4 wheel parts Whls. in reno told me that. I hope he's not right because I would rather just buy rims instead of rims and beadlocks. Does anyone out there have a used set? On the rubicon express springs they are cherokee rear springs, I am putting the 4.5 lift ones in the front and the 3.5 lift ones in the back. My friend has them in his SO wrangler and they seem very flexy and flat. Being heavier then the wrangler they should sit fairly level, with no lift increase, maybe less. So far I am outside of the frame on the rear of the front hangers. I moved the front forward about 1-2 inchs. The rear is back 5 inchs with the rear hangers built into the rear bumber. The body's off from the floor boards back so it's been easy to work on things. Flexing 40 helping me with my sm420 so hopefully by the rubithon we will be getting it awn!

I'm going with some wheel spacers to get the width I need... That way I can choose any type of wheel and not have issues trying to order custom bs wheels (especially if you bend/break one and can't afford the downtime of having it repaired).

I'll be running 1" on front and 1.5" on the rear... Will keep everyone posted of course...
