For those who use a JD2. After making the stand that you choose to use, How do you level out the stand if it is not level? Do you level off the die itself and how have you leveled it out. I am fixing to make the main hoop over my truck for the exo and can't afford to fawk it up and have a mis aligned hoop. Any suggestions will help. I have already made the sliders with no problem but that is only two bends. I made the front bumper but it had 4 bends and iwas off but was able to fix it after I thought it was in plain. HELP:confused:

I'm not 100% sure of what you're talking about, but

You should level your tubeing to the dies not the stand.
I don't know if that helps you or not

Level the die, not the stand, both should come close though. Read the tube bending article on the tech section, that should get you going.

I would bend the u Shape first, then mark the legs where they need to be and bend them. Leave extra tube to trim to the correct height.

YUP .....THATS THE KEY WITH THESE HIGH TECH BENDERS.

SEAT THE TUBING IN THE DIE ALMOST TO THE POINT OF BENDING.THEN WHEREEVER THE DOG LEG SECTION OF TUBING IS PUT A LEVEL ON IT....THEN WITHOUT MOVING ANYTHING PUT THE LEVEL ON THE DIE IN THE SAME DIRECTION .....THIS IS THE BEST WAY I HAVE FOUND....

OR DONT WORRY ABOUT IT AND CUT,SLEEVE,WELD GRING EACH MESSED UP PIECE:D

I have an adjustable angle finder and I just load the tube a little so that it'll hold..then measure the die (which may or may not be level with the ground) and then measure the tube. If they are the same angle..then keep bending!

I just eye-ball the two planes (tube/die)
Works great for me, but I do it all day

Bent up the main hoop today when I got home from work and leveled everything out with the die. Turned out perfect! Thanks for all your input. Jeff

Hey Frank, Yeah the sliders and the front bumper and winch are all on. The sliders were easy! the front bumper was not to bad alittle off on the bends but I just put the high lift to and straightened it out. I hope to get it all done this weekend and weld it up. I don't have a red star so I cant post any pics until I get them to my web site.

:( Did the front axle work out for ya?

So far! It's bolted to the springs. The 3rd, axles, and knuckles are on. I've been feeling lousy the last couple of days so I haven't got shit done.:( I'll finish it up tomorrow.

I haven't mailed the u-bolts. I mailed something to PA on 4-30 and it hasn't showed up yet. Fawkin' post office.:mad3: :mad3:

This is the route I have used so far. I've only done single plane multiple bends at this point though.

I will be picking up some angle finders shortly though. I will be leveling the tube to the die since I run a model 3 non-hydro bender on a receiver based mount which is never level since it relies on my truck being completely level.
