Just looking to see if we had driven over something

For comparrison you are just going to have to imagine it with full width D60s and monster tyres:flipoff2:

Yes I am ducking now and putting my flame suit on cause its fitted with Revolver Shackles:rolleyes:

no ducking needed!

this is the epitome of a great Rover, in my opinion. not all of us yanks are hung up on monster tires and non-LR diffs.

. . . time now for me to strap on the flame suit :rasta:

Glad you liked it

The best thing about it is that it looks almost standard. Then you drive over something and stretch its legs a bit and all you can hear is the soft sound of peoples jaws hitting the floor:D :D :D

Wow, looks good.

So, lemme figure this out:

TI Console parabolics?

Revolver shackles?

Some kind 'a long travel shock?

Very nice.

BTW, I too appreciate the sound of jaws hitting the ground. ;)

Later,

Michael

BTW, the tall skinny's are sweet IMO.

nice,

A stockish 88 on 7.50s goes pretty good.

Can't wait to get Noah locked at BOTH the ends to show them how its really done.

You got it just about right Michael

TI Console 2 leaf parabolics all round. The ultimate flexy leaf spring. With the latest versions, as these are, you even get an anti friction block on the small area that the two leaves contact each other so there is virtualy no interleaf friction to prevent flex.

Revolver shackles. As far as I know the only set in the country at the moment. They do seem to work well in these conditions dont they? I cant speak for them in any other circumstances yet cause Im back at work in Germany 1000 miles away from the LR now and we only got to test drive it on this kind of terrain. That means I cant coment on the road handling yet either but there will be more testing next time I get home.

Long travel shocks. You could say that the front pair have a 32" extended length and use most of it leaving just enough to keep the shocks from acting as limit straps. The rear shocks werent fitted when these photos were taken but the cunning plan is in place and everything looked good at the mockup stage. They may not need to be quite so long as the fronts because they will angle in towards the centre of the bed.

You forgot to mention the custom front prop shaft and the very long brake lines.:D :D

Tall and skinny tyres are part of the scene over hear in the UK cause we have alot of mud as opposed to your dryer terrain. I have seen rigs fitted with fat tyres scating arround with little or no directional control were something fitted with skinny tyres was driving without problems. I wanted flex but I didnt want to build a copy of American rockrawlers cause we just dont have the rock to crawl.

We used an 88 running standard TI Console parabolics and lockers as a comparison vehicle during these tests. It was great fun to watch the lockers pushing him through sections where he would have cross axled without them. As the ground fell away from the front wheel the lockers continued pushing the LR over the obsticle, so the front wheel just came further and further off the ground. When the point of balance was reached the vehicle pivoted over the crest, without control, until the front wheel was on the ground and the rear waving in the air. Great fun and exciting but call me boring if you want I prefer to have all four wheels on the ground werever possible.

Now lockers both ends and this setup that would be fun:smokin:
