95 SWB 3.9 sitting for approx 7 months. Got the heads back on today and fired it up. Steady oil drip from bottom of front pulley (front crank seal??). 100% sure it was from front pulley and not from anything above, as I cleaned and watched it drip while running. Ran for about 20 min, shut down for approx 20 min, then cranked it back up and no leak. Was the seal just dry and needed oil to lube and seal it???

Entirely possible. Seen that seal seated incorrectly before, if that part was rebuilt also. Also very common to get a groove worn in the balancer pulley where the seal rides. Wouldn't be surprised if you see this leak reappear if the truck sits long, especially in the cold. Another common cause is a change in oils, from fossil based to synthetic, or away from a high parafin (sp?) content oil like Penzoil.

When a Rover quits leaking, I first check the oil.
The groove in the harmonic balancer is a factroy installed option, much like the illuminated check engine light on an LR3.

Well, Still not leaking, but........ Loosing coolant again from the cap. Not running hot, temp in res is 180ish, temp gauge is approx 200. I can stick my finger in the res and it does not feel that hot either. I swear I can smell exhaust fumes from the coolant tank while idling. Same as before I did the Head Gaskets. I gues either a cracked head or liner problem. Going to do a compression and leak down...
