I thought that I would share a bit of info to all on the board as you may or may not know I live in Toledo, Ohio the place where they have made jeeps since the 40s. I just thought that It was a sad day when I was driving down I 75 and saw the Willys Jeep plant being demolished the only thing left of the building is the newer section that was built in the 70s and they are still making the bodys for the TJs there and shipping them to the new plant about 3 miles down the road to the liberty plant, thats where they will be making the Rubicon and the rest of the TJs for now. I will get some pics If anyone is interested in seeing the places I thought some may like it? Alittle more info for the boards to my neighbor Is the body shop manager (TJ bodies) at the Willys Plant and the Wrangler Rubicon is a GO so watch out for the yuppie newbies crowding up the trails, but I guess we ALL started somewhere.

Aah don't be sentimental, it's not like Willy's Overland designed and created the Jeep anyway. Mourn the lose to the little guy, American Bantam who designed and created the Jeep but our government gave the contract to Willy's Overland to build American Bantam's Jeep. At least AB got to build the Jeep trailers.

yeah bantam,, i coulda bought a bantam at one point, but it was just too far gone to be worth it.
its too bad bantam was not big enough to meet the army's required units, since they really did invent the small 4x4,,and even though willy's got the contract they were not able to meet the demand either and went to ford instead of bantam for help, that sucked.
i think its funny how ford put script F's on every peice of the GPW when they started building the flattie, even bolt heads.
i also think its funny how chrysler had to buy the name "jeep" in order to keep using it on the vehicles.
