well after almost 2 years the IH MONSTER TRUCK is being put to working hauling fuel on the frozen lake in the great white north. it will be about 150 feet deep to 1000 feet so it will be fun.

thansk guys, today i did a little work the MONSTER TRUCK in the shop. we are wait for fuel to be delivered so we can haul it across the frozen lake. so once it is here we are hauling. i thought i would show you how we pull this truck when we get him stuck. i cabled the front and back axles together so when you pull the truck comes out. also the cable are hooked high on the truck for when it is sunk so one does not get wet trying to get the cables.

on the last outing we bent the drag link when we whacked a tree with the front tire. so i straighten it and braced it with angle iron for the next tree to enjoy. also bend some round rod around the spring so it is not spreading apart. if you notice i released the front axle because it was compressed down for plowing an ice road. but on this project i need the front end to bounce so i removed the braces. plus i had to put the little tires on so i can get MONSTER TRUCK out of the shop, raising the front end up 6" causes the roll bar to hit the top of the shop door frame.
can't wait to run 60 miles on pure ice, oh what a high that will be, LOL

From the reindeer lake run:
"the 2 point lesson on “how to drive” the Monster Truck

#1, that is the gas pedal, do not let fear and common sense hold you back

#2, that is the brake pedal, you do not need to know anything about that."

Damn King...you are something else...that is some funnnay reading:laughing:

There's no such thing as Chip & Dale dancers.... unless it's a couple of guys dressed up in chipmunk outfits struttin' their stuff. There are, however, Chippendale dancers... :flipoff2:

What kind of wheels and tires are on your truck? Are the wheels from something else, or did you build them from scratch?

King of Obsolete

thansk the tires are from a semi and then we welded in 53 chevy rims so they would bolt up. check out MBN where i have posted more details.

we the holiday is over so i unloaded MONSTER TRUCK today and found a little problem on the back wheel. WOW is all i had to say. never had this happen, and we also stop and tighten them on the trip. so now i need some studs.

i think it is a dana rear end because of the straight sides on the back cover.

Why are the lug nuts on upside down (taper out)?

King of Obsolete
01-02-2007, 10:13 PM
they are upside down because the 53 chevy rim does not have a dish for the taper of the nut. so when normal rims are on taper in, big wheels, taper out. never had a problem in 5 years with this. the problem being i live in the great white north and have to order the new studs in. if i took them out and then took them to an auto parts store to size them up, it is only 1200 kms to the south. so parts numbers would be a great help.

Well, that 1200 Kms treak would be a good one to write about! Sorry can't help you with the part numbers. I will do some digging and see what I can find though.
