you would run on a stock FJ40 axle (4.88s w/ ARBs F/R) while minimizing breakage? 36x12.5, 36x14.5 or35x12.5?:D

With an FJ-40, I would not hesitate to run 38's with the Super birfields.

With a Wagon...lighter 36's or 37's due to the weight of the wagon itself on the rear axles.

What about width? Will a 14.5 Swamper create too much torque?

How do you think 33-15.50 would do on FJ55 axels?

I had both 12.50 and 14.50 SX's and I say go for the 14.50 not only for the added height but mainly for the extra width for stability.

As for the 33 x 15's those things are like 31" tall at trail pressure!

Some of the smallest 33's on the market.

If you want a true 33" wide tire get the 35 x 15.50 SX.

That's what the 67 is running, so you have an idea of how it will look;)

I can see already there is no way around redoing the suspension, and I thought I was done.;)

38.5x14.50 sx's. Love them!!! Way more stable than the 36x12.50's!!!
Other than a oversize birf retaining clip I had no axle problems at Moab. I would not hesitate to run them again...

Yes, I got the check, thanks!

Yeah, the 36 x 14.50 Swamper Radial (not ssr) is a GREAT tire and it is large for a 36" tire.

Here is one on a FJ-40

I'm running 15/35 swampers on my stock axles. No problems. I have broken a birfield or 2 in the past year, but honestly in both situations, I would have blown a birfield even with stock tires on it. Cause I was gettin it! :D:D:D:D

Jesus, why are 36-14.5 so much more expensive than 36-12.5s?

Hey sorry to but in. But how do you guys think the stock 2f would handle the 36 x 14.5 tires with the same set-up as Sloan. (4.88 & ARBS f/r)?

I run 38's and do just fine. It works really well with 4.88's
not all that great with 4.11's though...

Are you thinking mostly street driving??

On the trail it will not make much difference.

My cruiser (the white one above) still has the 2F

I always drive to the trail. Right now I have 4.11 and 33 x 12.5 TSL, and it sucks on hills. But I can go 80 on the freeway if I want to. I realize I wont have tons of power on steep roads. Do the 4.88's make a huge difference? I am running a 4-speed tranny, and 3 speed case. Axles are being shipped ( 4.88 ARB's , disc brakes, birf elim, high steer blah, blah ,blah) I am definetly going to 36", not sure on the width. More stability the better, 14.5 is sounding pretty good. What is your opinion

4.88s and 35s are sloooooooooooooooow on the freeway. It's like when I first got it. That's why I am starting to look at 36s or...

I would base it on your wheel size if your running 8's go with the 12.5's but if you have 10's go with the 14.5's
