: EB to Buggy
lil-bronc 12-17-2006, 07:39 PM So, after last year I decided to part out the 72' EB and build a buggy. I kept the engine and axles for now. Possibly upgrading the front to a D60, money. Well here are some pics.
I am going to set the engine this week and I am curious, what is the best way to set it? Does it have to be level? Does it have to be straight?
Anyway check out the pics.

I will add more pics when I get them. I was able to work on the firewall and interior sheet metal. Nothing like cutting sheet metal with a 4" cut off grinder.

Planned on working this weekend and I ended up getting what was going around with this stupid flu or some sort.
lil-bronc 01-21-2007, 09:03 AM Well got some stuff done this weekend. Trying to finish the front half before begining on the rear. I want to make sure that I have room for the rear passengers, not to much but enough.
MattyB4x4 01-21-2007, 09:42 AM great build...love the attention to detail.
I loved your eb though...haha keep up the good work, you helped me alot with my build, love the lines of this one
lil-bronc 01-28-2007, 10:07 AM Got the floor boards, pedals, and seat mounted. Now I can begin work on the back half....
Chopperman 01-28-2007, 05:20 PM Those pedals are SIACCCCKkkk.
Looks good man, I love the home brew seat sliders :smokin:
ALimeTymeHeep 01-29-2007, 08:02 AM Nice build but tooooo many pedals. Keep the pics comming.
Chopperman 01-29-2007, 09:15 PM Dude, I will be bringing my junk over to bend up a cage for the "A". She is a roller babyyyy...When is a good date ?

Any Saturday is pretty good. Get some dimensions and I can run it on the program before you come over and we can double check them before bending. Do you have tube? I am going to get some more from team tube in the next couple of weeks.
lil-bronc 02-07-2007, 05:33 PM Well I did my taxes and the parts should be coming soon. Thanks for PSC motorsports and the sale they are having I got a complete full hydro steering set up for 1175.
I also kicked down on the front axle. I am selling my HP 44 for a HP D60 kingpin I got from Highhonda here on the board. So, I will be ordering the True HI 9 next and just little stuff after that.
I will post pics as I move forward and when I recieve the parts....
SpineTx 02-07-2007, 05:47 PM Got the floor boards, pedals, and seat mounted. Now I can begin work on the back half....
More info on those seat mounts, are they going to slide on those tubes. If so how are you going to lock them in place? that is a :smokin: idea!

I drilled three holes (short, medium, tall) that the seat can be placed at. I use a pin to set the seat in a place. I saw it on another build and thought it would be a great idea for the driver. The rest of the seats will not be movable, but is not needed.
lil-bronc 02-07-2007, 09:08 PM Here are some more pics....
rocktoy308 02-08-2007, 08:11 AM Very nice build great fab job:D
lil-bronc 02-11-2007, 08:35 AM Well, another Saturday in the Garage. The rain sucks as it is very diificult to bend and stay dry. I need a bigger house, no just a bigger garage... Here are some pics.
Flat1TON 02-12-2007, 08:27 PM Looks good Lance. I like the use of expanded metal.
lil-bronc 02-15-2007, 03:06 PM Well got it today, and WOW.... Why did I wait so long. Here are some pics.
NOTPRETTY 02-16-2007, 04:04 PM Who did the axle work Lance? Nice pics by the way...:p
lil-bronc 02-16-2007, 04:44 PM Who did the axle work Lance? Nice pics by the way...:p
I got a screamin deal from Highonda, a vendor on this board. Good customer service and a great price. I thought shipping from NY would be bad but I couldn't find anything close to that price locally and to build one, forget it.
NOTPRETTY 02-16-2007, 07:29 PM I know of HighHonda...been doing business on pirate for some time and he seems to do decent work. I don't hear negative about him. I like the clearnacing done on the 60, but what keeps me from cutting into my 60/14 bolt is a concern about leaking. If the fluid leaks out and you run your gears dry, it doesn't take long to grenade them. Don't get me wrong...it can be done and done well. I just know it is something you should watch. Even the best job can eventually leak.
Now I have to rub this in a bit...
I bought a 79 truck (Less the engine) for $800.00 that had a front 60. I sold the rear 60 for 300.00. Sold the t-case for 225.00, and many misc parts for another 300.00. So I made $25.00 on this purchase. And...the 60 had all new brakes, rotors, calipers, pads, bearings, and seals. Now it is not chevy conversion, but that is fine with me. I did a tierod flip and am not running high steer which means I shouldn't break the Ford...weak...knuckles that often do break with high steer. So do the Chevys for that matter.
Truth is...It only took about 4 years of hunting to find this axle. Yes, I'm a bit of a scrounge not to mention a cheap bastard.
In the end I sold my junk and built these axles for about 1000.00...not counting tires and wheels. It can be done, but it is rare. I consider myself very lucky and persistant
:grinpimp:
lil-bronc 02-18-2007, 02:47 PM Another weekend and couple things taken care of....
lil-bronc 02-25-2007, 03:19 PM Thanks to the wife a great weekend. Got a lot done. Here are some pics.

lil-bronc 03-10-2007, 09:37 PM Thanks RJ, Chris and everybody. Well I got all the cage done and square the axles up today. Will take pictures tomorrow. I also got the ALLOY axles along with a set of CTMs that I won from Jack here on the board, put the driver side together and they are about three times bigger than the 44 warn & CTM.
Late.
lil-bronc 03-12-2007, 09:27 PM Here are some more pics. I am hoping I will have the links and suspension down in the next couple of weeks. Then tear it down preped and painted then wire it up and run.
NOTPRETTY 03-13-2007, 09:44 AM Lance...Curious what you plan on doing for panels...if anything. Are you going to try to look EB or not? Looks good!

I will worry about that after I make sure everything is to my likin'. Most likely just some plexi-glass or speedglass on the sides and nother else..
Gutter Runner 04-08-2007, 07:35 AM Looking sweet, man. Nice build! Thanks for your offer for help with my propane system. I love it. I would never go back to gas. :smokin:
MudSlinger125 04-08-2007, 10:48 AM That is shaping up very nice!!!!
Looks awesome dude!!
NOTPRETTY 04-08-2007, 11:16 AM Propane...do you get a tax deduction for it...is it a one time deal or annually?
Hmmm....I wonder if I could fit the tank in place of my existing 27 gallon tank from BC broncos?
Is propane on average cheaper than gas. I know if fluxuates and think it is a bit more lately. I've heard MPG is slightly better too...yes? 110 octane rating for propane. Can you change the cam/pistons....increase the compression...and get more HP like you can with high octane gas?

Yes, I got a Federal & State tax deduction, clean air act. I believe it is still available. Propane is cheaper than gas, especially if you go to right to AmeriaGas or Kamps. I got better gas milage, but I believe that was to case due to not having to run higher RPMs on the trail. Actually, you loose HP with propane, about 3% total.
lil-bronc 04-09-2007, 08:52 PM Well, I have been busy with work and the family. Got a chance to try to catch up this weekend, but that damb UFC was on and ended my Saturday short. Oh well here are some pics..

lil-bronc 04-22-2007, 02:29 PM Well, been to busy to post lately. Getting the itch to wheel and the season is coming up. So, here are some photos. Got my 35 spline Moser's installed and bought a set of 40's, 39.5 x 15, Iroks.
lil-bronc 04-22-2007, 02:31 PM My daughter came out to give a helping hand. Also, showing me on the correct driving techniques. I just have to check all the tubes before welding as she thinks it is funny to put the bolts not back in the bucket but hide them from daddy.
lil-bronc 05-12-2007, 05:46 AM Getting the final parts together. Trying to figure the best spring rates. First was sitting to high but a lot better know. I got it started and finished plumbing the steering. List of items to complete:
brakes
exhaust
clutch
front upper links
gauges in dash
broncorckcrwlr 05-12-2007, 06:28 AM Looks really good. Cute kid too. What mixer and regulator you running on the propane?
