I may be doing a frame swap very soon ... Using a cherry picker, where should I mount the chains to on the motor('87 YJ, 4.2L)?
I see some big bolts coming up and out from the manifold on the driver side, could I use those? What about the other side?
I've removed engines before (a couple) but not an inline 6. TIA

Yes you can use the studed head bolts on the driver side of the valve cover.

Will those be enough to hold the engine? Say three of them?
Or should I bolt something on to the other side of the motor for better balancing?
Thanks.

I have lifted several I-6's with just two of those bolts. Make sure the chain fits down tight and the washer and nut you use is tight. It will be fine.

Gotcha, thanks. I'm used to V8s, what can I say?
This project's gonna suck somewhat, but hopefully we can do it in two days. I'll be one happy mofo when we're done, cuz then my formerly rusted-out Heep can go wheelin' again:D
its not really wise to use the headbolts as they will stretch and eventually start to leak especially if you use the ones that go into the water gallerys...
