I've got my 88 ford HP 60 and I am in the process of planning and ordering parts. I see that there are yokes avialable to convert it to a 1310 joint. Spicer 2-4-3801x etc. But with a 460 C6 and the possiblilty of a doubler, what will happen to this 1310 joint? I Don't know if I will have to use a CV shaft or not with the HPinion. I want to be able to drive at 50mph with the hubs locked on the days that need it (this is still going to be my winter DD). Ford NP205 T-case will be used. Assuming my d60 has a 1330 joint right now and 4.10 gears.

Just curious what people are doing for front driveshafts on 60's with their IH's.

I plan on running 1350's but I'm not there yet.

I went with Jesse's recommendation and am running a Toyota shaft. he says it has the strength of a 1350 but will not bind as early as a 1350. i did not have room for a 1350 cv up front (4L80E with deep pan was in the way)
My only comment at this time is the toy shaft seems to have too much play in the slip joint. if i my hubs are locked i get quite a bit of vibration.

k, so the stock 1330 wouldn't even be enough?

Thats interesting. I am close to my 4l80, never hits though and I use a non Cv :rainbow: square line with 1350s. It is good for me up to about 60 mph locked in. I also have quite few years on it and only lost one joint.
Is it the CV that will hit the pan?
I noticed with the doubler on mine I have a lot of room to clear a CV. I also have my 205 clocked flat too.

I ran cheap and wimpy 1310 CVs front and back on Rusty. Held up fine and I did some pretty stupid climbs with it. Of course, everythign was new.

That's a real good question, I haven't got that far yet on my axles.

It'll probably get a 1350.

If your gonna be on the cheap use a conversion joint and the same shaft as you used before.

Running 1310's (t-case joint is an offset) up front, using a 1 1/2" sold square PTO shaft, coupler is welded to the tube of a cut down front axle. I've already had to cut and reweld the coupler once. The 1310's have been fine and have survived a lot of abuse. I prefer to replace a drive shaft then an axle. The season I've had to replace one front and one rear.

if you are worried about it binding, you shouldnt be. you are running a hipinion. I used conversion joints on mine when i did them.

1310 super flex joint at the T-case from Tom Woods, and extra deep u-bolt yoke from IHOnlyNorth. Sq drive shaft 1.5" and 2" as the 727 case won't allow any bigger tube. If a doubler is in the plan you need to get that setup first or re make the drive shafts when its ready. What are you doing about exhaust is the next question when running a NP205 T-case, as that takes up more room then the D20 or D300

1410 at pinion, 1350 cv head at t/c

;) exactly.

well lets see right now for my dana 44's i have 1310 at both pinions, a 1350 CV on the back of my np 205, and a 1330 to 1310 conversion joint for the front d line. when 60's are in 1410's at pinion, and prob 1350 CV front and rear

If I np203 double, it might make my front shaft issues a bit simpler as I will be able to clock it however i want. Since I'm going to be rocking a ford C6 I should be able find out driveshaft clearence from some of the ford truck people.

I know the 727 is not 31 splines for sure. How do you attach the ford 205 to the 727?
Thanks

It's not... his 205 is connected to a 203 that is connected to the 727. I'm sure he omitted the 203 in his post since this thread is directed towards u-joints.

EDIT: nevermind... I'm thinking of his other truck that has the 203/205 doubler. It's behind a T19, though....

I'm running the exact drivetrain combination you're looking at. You won't have any clearance problems on the transfer case end.

I'm running a 1410 CV and 1410 at the pinion up front.

Using a spud shaft and a custom adapter to connect the two. And Mechanos is right, the 203 is in the other truck behind the IH T-19.
