: 1994 K1500 Brake Improvements?

Hello, does anyone here have any suggestions to improve the brakes on this vehicle? I know I could go with a Baer kit or others. I would like to install larger Dia. rotors on the front for increased brake swept area and leverage, possibly using dual piston calipers. ORU has a kit for the 1T GM IFS that uses Ford F350 dual piston calipers but they don't offer a similar kit for the 1/2T GM IFS. I was thinking of going as far as looking into the fitment of the 1T outer brake componenents (knuckles and other parts that might fit) and ? redrilling the rotors for the 6lug pattern (or compare the light duty 3/4T 6lug rotor to the 1/2T). In the rear I was thinking of using like early 80's 1/2T caliper mounting brackets, calipers, and 6lug 1/2T rotors for disk brakes. It was explained to me what components to use on the rear and how to mount the rotor but I just can't think of it at this time, I need to review this. So, any ideas floating around for an inexpensive homegrown brake mod, I have the factory Z71 alum. wheels which may limit some choices...like Baer Racing kits

cj8scrambld,
Check your local auto parts place(Napa, Pep Boys) and ask if they carry the Raybestos line. If so, you can order from the BruteStop line. Crossdrilled rotors and better pad materials. Will bolt right up. Did this on my father-in-law's F350 with amazing results and no more cracked rotors.

If you want more caliper, check into adapter plates for a 1 ton setup. I've had custom plates machined for as little as $35. Take pics to show the board and good luck.

Put in a 60 front, they have big rotors and calipers. The rear is easy, just swap in a 14 bolt and do a cheapie disk brake conversion on it.

Aztec777,
Could you give more details and/or photos of these adapters to adapt the 1T GM IFS caliper to the 1/2T GM IFS knuckles. And who has done this and would they do it for others? That is something I would be intersted in...adding more caliper. I realize it may overlap the smaller 1/T rotor, is the 3/4 6lug rotor the same diameter and/or could it be used in place of the 1/2T rotor? How about the 1T rotor swapped onto the 1/2T guts? I am sure there are major differences in the bearings and what not???? Fill me in, I really need to get a better look at this setup and put my thinking cap on!!! Thanks for your help. John
