1996 + taco/runners SAS pictures needed please.

I have the axle, I have the thirds coming, but I would like ot get some ideas of different SAS's performed on these newer IFS frames. Specifically, parts and materials used. This may become a spring time project so I'd like to research methods and pictures for how guys installed everything...

Here is my 98, didn't use a toy. axle, used a waggy d44 because the width suited me better.

This shows the plating/sleeving you need to do to accomidate an older IFS steering box. Also you need to put a rear sump oil pan/pickup on it from a t100.

Other then that as far as frame mods, you just add a piece of 2x4 in between the frame rails in the front and then add your hangers below. Also of course you need to torch all the old crap off.

what shocks are those kstacoma? also are you having problems hitting ur pitman arm under flex with the box positioned in that way?

are they 12" travel? im trying to solve my shock dilema and i know i should go bilstein but i would rather not fork over the money for them and get some cheapo ranchos or something. i have been studying ur truck cause its hard to find SAC reg cab tacos and i am collecting parts for mine right now so i need all the influenece i can get get.

yea i have read up on josh's truck to but i hate that he sold it so quickly cause i wanted to learn from his "mistakes" a couple months after doing it and what needed to be changed and so on

I too am looking for info, trying to decide whats easiest,

a) buy a prerunner, swap in a 5 spd tranny/case with pass drop and use the toy axle I have

for the record josh's truck on ttora is one of the lower solid axle tacos around that i have found. u cant go much lower without limiting travel...i think it is like 25"s to the frame maybe a little lower

Well, obviously the rear isn't the issue, it was lifted to match the front but the front is using shackle below the frame instead of sleeved for one. Looks like a little flatter spring could be used. Could save 3-4 inches there, looks like you could squeak an inch out of the front hangers.

Is there an oil pan issue with the T-100 pan or something? My zuk was setup with maybe 3-4" uptravel and all droop. Wheeled ok.

Maybe I'm just used to the regular truck conversions.

all tacos have the front shackles mounted below the frame instead of thru it...and yes there is an oil pan issue because the taco oil sump is right where the draglink will hit under flex so it is swapped for a t100 oil pan that puts the sump at the back. also with the tacos at 25-27"s to the frame seems like most trucks are wider than they are tall so it works out. might have been an issue with a sami being that tall cause of it being narrow.

I know about the T100 pan, was just wondering if it is lower than the old 2.4's pan on the solid axle models or something that reduces clearance.

The zuks its hard to build them low too, you have to chop sheet metal, but a zuk on toys with a low stance can squeeze 37's in with some fender cutting. Surely a taco can stay a bit lower.

Mine comes in at 25" to the frame on 39's with 5" of uptravel..........3 link with 17" coilovers.

My taco on ttora is sitting at 23.5" to the frame on 37" tires, 5" of uptravel.

Those numbers are getting closer to what I'm talking about. On 33's or 34 with 4" of uptravel I'd be closer to what I'm looking for in a dd. The police here target lifted vehicles, there is a problem with the law and if you get pulled over, your registration basically changed to scrapped vehicle until it is put back stock.

Damn, mines at 26" to bottom of frame underneath my door and i'm on 35's but it doesn't seem too tall or tippy to me imo.
